Looks like you scraped it on something, or somebody scraped it… I doubt they'll warranty that.

The black looks like it came off another car/surface.

I'm just telling you what they will say. I don't know what happened.

Where did the black come from?

However in the interest of goodwill, the dealer may not care how it happened and will fix it.

ya i am guessing that your right...I am sure paint defects are the hardest to prove under warranty....Its actually not noticeable from a distance but would prob want to fix it...Hope it don't cost much

If you are anal, how did you miss it when you purchased the car... It didn't come from the factory like that.... promise

Where is that? If it's the trunk to 1/4 panel, some people have had this happening from using one side of their trunk to shut it instead of shutting it in the middle.

It looks to me that is the bottom edge of your car door? If so it opens out obviously meaning it will not have a chance to rub on any body panels causing rubbing or chipping, looking at the picture up close it looks chipped, like the door was opened and it hit something.

here's a further away pic...If i want this fixed do I have to have the whole door repainted? How much would that cost ? and would it be cheaper just to pay the $250 deductible going through my insurance? Or is it even worth fixing?

I wouldn't do that under insurance, it almost looks like your door caught on something. touch up paint? the paint that GM now gives out (Order through parts department) handles really well and hardly noticeable. and it may not even cost that much to correct.

Clean it, use a clay bar to remove the paint transfer, and then see if you can use touch up to make it not noticeable.

If it is not good enough for you it will be about $500 and they will keep your car 5-10 days.

Just use 1500 or 2000 wet sand paper on the damage just enough to dull it up a little, then rubbing alcohol to clean , use gm touch up colour paint in the chip or damage, try to keep the colour in the chip just so it covers the edge of the chip. Only apply enough touch up paint to get coverage, usually once or twice is enough. Let dry and now apply the clear coat so it overlaps the touch up paint.

To me when I expand the picture, it looks chipped. Have you had it in for service for any reason? People are bad about damaging your vehicle and not telling you. Especially the dealer and I have had multiple dealers damage my wheels on my 2012 ZL1 from my very first oil change until I got rid of it. That's why I always walk the car before and after service. I even had a dealer run into my carcar with a truck and I didn't see it until I got home. Luckily after 2 days someone at the dealer came forward and said they saw it damaged.

I would not repaint your whole door for that, personally. I would try touching it up. It's in kind of a bad spot but I think a properly prepped touch up job will hold and will be less noticeable than repainting the entire door for something that minor.
