Tool felll, hit my car, went right through the paint
As the title says. What do I need to do to correct it, and how much should I suspect it is going to cost? I don't think touch up paint will do the trick…

That's awful!
Unfortunately if it went through the clear coat, you would have to get it repainted. It's really too big for touch up paint. Good luck! |

I agree with Glen. My wife had a "similar scuff" on her rear bumper
. They had to repaint just over half the bumper. Price was $500 with Receipt, or $250 cash. Best $250 I ever spent..........It sucks man, but $h*t happens........

Thankfully I found out that it wasn't a deep scratch. Because the garage was so dark, I had to use the flashlight on my phone at first to see what the damage was. I saw the dark black against the red paint and immediately thought it went right to the metal.
Later I opened the garage door, and I took a closer look at it. It appeared that the scratch was raised. I took my fingernail and scratched away at it, and it peeled right off. The tool that fell on it left some plastic scuff marks on it, but it didn't do any damage to the paint!

Now I'm ultra-paranoid. Never will I have a cluttered mess of tools on the rack near my car

That's great news. Glad it was just a scuff and not worse. There is nothing worse than seeing something like that and it makes you think the worse.

Op if there is no damage to the paint and you have a dent......call a local Paintless Dent Repair shop.....
They do amazing work and can get out almost any dent. |
