Next week big decisions 17 ZL1 or 17 Z06 (1LZ)
Got tired of waiting for my Hot Ref Zl1 order to be picked up so next week I'm going home and just get one of these two cars either a base Z06 or a HBM ZL1
The ZL1 is pretty close to 70k The Z06 is around 74K-75k Please give me your input to make my decision |

Depends what you're planning to use the car for. Cruising, DD, car shows? ZL1 for sure. It's cheaper and it comes loaded. I'd rather have that over a base Z06. If you're going for track times, Z06. It's lighter and Corvettes still outhandle Camaro on the track. The decision would be harder if it was 2LZ, but then the price difference would swell.

For the design, less weight plus fastest lap, the Z06. For the full package, better chasis and that will put the power better to the ground, nothing like the newest design '17 ZL1 for sure, just see the last ZL1 video from MT

I was in the same boat and opted for the ZL1. Mine is a nice weather daily driver and I enjoy all the options/features the ZL1 comes with stock vs getting a higher optioned/priced Z06. Plus I couldn't fit a helmet on in the Z06 (too tall). The ride quality and flexability of the ZL1 just out weighed the minor track performance levels the Z06 offered.

My buddy got the Z06 and I got the ZL1. For me, I couldn't justify the price difference. He tracks his a lot and the handling difference in the two was more important for him. I'm more recreational. I like the ZL1 as an all around car. I can cruise the highway, through town, take it to the track or whatever and it seems at home everywhere. At the end of the day you're going to have a great car so it's a win win. Good luck.

Given you are asking this on the ZL1 forum I'm sure a lot of replies may be justifiably biased.
Both are incredible cars and it just boils down to what works best for YOU. I do not see how you could go wrong with either one.

The current 2017 ZL1 is the most powerful of all Camaros to date. To me, that is a little more special and the resale could be better, who knows. But the Z06 is not as unique and has been around awhile. They have all of the cooling problems worked out with the 650hp ZL1. I would have to go with the ZL1, but that is coming from a ZL1 owner of only 2 weeks.

Your joking right.....there is no usable back seat in the current 6th Gen. The new ZL1 has superior cooling than the current Z06. But I imagine the new ZR1 will correct that...but at a much higher price.

.....Believe it or not, I've fit back there. It's not at all comfortable...But in a pinch, it can still be used as a backseat, vs not an option in the Stingray.

Reviews of the Z06 are ..."ehh..." due to the inability to put the power down without crapping your pants.
The ZL1 on the other hand...puts it down like butter on hot toast. ZL1 > Z06 IMO If you want a vette over a camaro, then go Grand Sport
