Tow Hook Rigidity?

Saw a Camaro getting pulled off a flat bed tow truck today and it was latched by the tow hook. When the operator tilted the bed back I guess he let too much slack off the wench before the car actually started moving, so once it did start rolling it rolled about 3 feet back before catching up to the slack and jerking to a stop.

It got me thinking, how sturdy are our tow hooks? And are they hooked into the frame? Just wondering what kind of damage could occur by something like this happening.

Never give your wench too much slack, they will always cause problems when you let that happen.
