I've watched this video many times. They are so positive and do a terrific job of showing / testing the car in multiple scenarios. I appreciate the production quality of the Motortrend videos as well.

The list of cars the ZL1 leaves in it's wake is breathtaking. Just awesome!

Great video! Like the comparison between the manual and auto...wasn't sure how different they'd be time wise around the track but now we know. 6 sets of rear tires in 5 days...I can't be doing that though lol

Honestly I can't imagine anybody other than a race team or manufacturer burning through that many sets of tires for any reason. From GM point of view it is cheap advertising as that line is getting repeated a lot. It's an absurd amount of tire smoking. Total valid though as the Z06 was famously struggling with overheating.

Corvette Team must be working on some amazing products because the Camaro Team has caught up and surpassed in many ways.

lol yep. I found it very interesting that even though the m6 came out of the last turn 1mph faster the a10 couldn't make it up and by the time they completed the lap the m6 was actually 3mph up. And the m6 led for most of that lap too. I wonder if it'll play out like that if an a10 and m6 meet up for a rolling run....I can't wait to find out.

On a closed course, of course.

Boom! So glad I have the M6, to each his own, but I love the feel of running through the gears. I was a little concerned that I was leaving some performance on the table by not getting the A10, but this is the second time the M6 has bested the A10 on a road course. I'll take it and would have been satisfied even if the M6 was a little behind. It just feels right..... Like I said, to each his own, but this is my weekend car and it's just more fun. Debate if you will, but as far as I'm concerned, I made the right decision for ME.

Another interesting note. Motor Trend mentioned in the magazine and online text version of this review, that Randy felt the air pressures were off in the auto, so he made some adjustments, and lapped slightly faster than the manual, but they made no mention of it in the video review. Apparently the front tires were heating up and losing grip in the auto, so it couldn't take that last high speed turn leading to the start finish line as fast as the manual. According to that video, it couldn't take any of the corners as fast, except 1 or 2 maybe. The auto only made it close in what they showed, because of its ability to accelerate faster and run a higher speed down the back straight, which is where it took the lead for a bit.

Really, on most road courses, the 2 trannies are so close, it doesn't matter which one you choose. The broad torque band of the LT4 makes the 6 speed super fast! The A10 might make it a little faster, but it would make a higher revving engine that doesn't have all the low end torque, really scream compared to the manual. Could be what they have planned with the rumored DOHC engine they've been working on. A high revving, A10 Z28, or ZR1 maybe?

I felt the same way too. I got my 16 ss and 15 c7 both with a8's bc I didn't want to "leave performance on the table" and I loved the way they ran through the gears but I did miss rowing my own too. The zl1 I got was the only one for sale in my state at the time and I was impatient. I'm glad to see my impatience wasn't negatively impacted.....so far.

Not trying to argue. Just curious if I missed something. What other time did the M6 beat the A10? This is the only one I've heard about.

I did read that too but I would wonder why they didn't make any adjustments to the m6 and run them again. It doesn't matter to me that the a10 runs a couple tenths faster around a road course, I can live with that since I'm not a road course junkie. I would love to take it once or twice, but that's about it. What I was most impressed with is the m6's ability to put a couple mph over the course of the last stretch. A couple more lbs of pressure shouldn't affect it in a straight line. I'm sure it did understeer slightly with increased pressure in the front but they still exited 1mph apart and ended with the m6 3mph ahead. I was expected the a10 to drive around it on that back stretch.

I simply do not get how the whole M6 vs A10 crap surfaces...I just watch the vid & was going to comment two things:

~They stated it was faster than the Hellcat. HA!!

~From Me: Good gosh, you cannot go wrong with either tranny...wish I had one of each!!!!! Wasn't paying attn & thought the auto originally won cuz I got them mixed up, but didn't care as the times were so close, it was like what is the point?? This is one course / test & would LOVE to see what my personal times would be driving both.

We all really win in the end & the adolescence banter starts over a transmission?? This is the one thing on this sight that sticks in my craw, because it deflects the positive attributes of this car & makes the train take a dirt road.

Man, there is a dedicated manual vs auto thread somewhere else I'm sure...please don't crap up this bad ass vid with nonsense.

The M6/A10 adjustments conversation has been covered ad nauseam.

Both options are simply fabulous. This video was littered with praise and excitement. Let's enjoy that, shall we?
