441rwhp + 17" slicks + stock driveline = ???

Does anyone know what the stock driveshaft and axles are able to handle? I have slicks at 441rwhp, would likely leave from idle in the A8 trans. I assume it'll be fine since I'm not on an aftermarket converter, but several friends seem concerned.

You should be fine. The Fireball guys went 9.0 before just recently upgrading to the GForce axles. The A8 is your friend. My M6 spit one out completely stock with my 17" slicks.

That's what I figured. I know auto guys that have broken driveshafts, but they're north of 600 to the wheels.

I think if anything, the rubber isolators on the driveshaft would let go first. But I think you'll need more then what you do for it to happen.

Slicks are easier on your drive train than Drag radials. I am over 500/500rw and probably have over 100 passes on the car now with off idle launches on DR's with no issues. I will never vouch for GM but you should be more than fine.

That's what I thought.....then my completely stock snapped one clean in half.....

I guess a clutch is harder on it then a converter. 😎

And it is torque you need to pay attention to not horsepower when it comes to the capacity of driveline components.

Actually I think they were the ones who broke an axle after running a 9.83 quite a while ago. Using nitrous but no blower back then as I recall.

That said, I agree that the OP will likely be fine. The torque of his setup will not be what a hit of nitrous gives when he launches.
