Are those locking type? The ones listed on their website don't appear to be locking type. |

This is why hydro2 works well to protect lugs, mine look fine after 18 months. It gets where you can't get wax....see my wheel link.

I'm pretty mechanically impaired, is this the correct procedure for replacing the lug nuts?
1) Use breaker bar to loosen lugs, not remove. 2) Lift the section being worked on and put on stands. 3) Remove old lugs 4) Place new lugs on and hand tighten 5) Lower car and torque lugs in a star pattern to proper specs.

Too much effort......it's as easy as:
Keep car on ground, loosen one, replace -retighten and use a Tq wrench. Now do the one opposite of the one you just did. |

I think what is more important is to get the special sockets that won't mess up the finish of your wheels when you change them out.

Thanks for the feedback...
I ordered the gorilla ones from Amazon, should be here early next week. I follow Glen's wheel cleaning procedure so that should protect them from the rust. |

I have the Gorilla splined ones and I really hate splined lug nuts, considering how many times I pulled the wheels, PITA. I wrapped the splined key in duct tape to help protect the wheel, since my plastic lined sockets don't get anywhere near the wheel due to the "key".

They're a bit more expensive, but the Gorilla 96643BDX are perfect. They have the wider conical seat than the 71xxx series, so they fill the lug hole out much better.
I'll try to remember to post pics when the weather clears up and I can clean up the wheels. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/gor-96643bdx |

Can you please clue me in on these special sockets? A link or anything would do. I am not familiar with them. Thanks.

The special sockets have plastic liners on the outside so they're less likely to damage the wheels. But if you're using a spline lug nut with the splined key/socket, then these plastic sockets are mostly useless since they're so far away from the wheel. With that said, I still use them or at least wrap a regular socket in duct tape to protect the wheel.

What kind of seats do I want on lug nuts for the OEM black Camaro SS wheels? I see Ball, Caonical, and Mag.
