Base SS exhaust

How does the base SS exhaust sound? I've driven an SS with the NPP option (sounds great!), but haven't yet had the chance to drive one with the standard exhaust.

I've confirmed there's no real power benefit with NPP after speaking with one of the intake/exhaust engineers at the factory fest, so just looking to get feedback on sound.

Thanks.

It's not very loud. Definitely louder than most "normal" cars but not by much. I replaced mine with a corsa.

It's really only noticeable under WOT when the windows are up, you still need to get on it pretty hard to hear it with the windows down, and very subtle under normal driving conditions...hence my decision to install NOWEEDS diverters so I can basically have a stealth mode and muffler delete mode

I'll try to get a quick video in the next couple days so you can hear it before I have my exhaust done, just in case I end up ditching my secondary cats when the diverters go on.

Day and night between the two. If you heard the NPP already then you may really hear nothing much but the engine on the non-NPP SS or maybe a cold start you will get some decent exhaust notes. I rented a few 1SS's this past year and all i was thinking is, Dam i wish i had the NPP on here like my 2SS at home.

If you have an SS without NPP your best choice for the $ is the Chevy accesories SS mufflers that will not affect your warranty and are made by Borla. They are around $ 700 at discount shops. Most axle backs are DOUBLE that.

It's very quiet, the NPP is louder with valves open but then again even NPP isn't that loud unless you are at WOT.

Many people will upgrade to aftermarket anyways, I'm glad I had the NPP to start with just because I like the quad tip look better and I didn't have to change the "lower cover" on the rear bumper to accommodate the quad tips when I went aftermarket. I also enjoy having the ability to change the mode, right now it doesn't matter much with a cat back but when I go headers I am sure it will come in handy.

I have the base Non-npp exhaust and just did a muffler delete. I love it!

I started with the non-NPP exhaust with the thought that I could make it loud later (was too late to order a 16, too early to order a 17, but got lucky and found one on a lot with everything I wanted EXCEPT the NPP ). I would say that it's a pretty quiet exhaust. You get some sound if you're standing behind it if someone WOT's it when they're driving away. It's louder than most other production cars in the economy or luxury segments, but nothing I would get excited about.

I ended up going with a local shop in MI, MRT Performance, to get one of their cat-back systems w/o mufflers. If you're looking for something on the louder side, I highly recommend trying to hear one of these cars without mufflers in person. No videos I have seen online are able to do them justice!

Finally got the video done as promised, with the added bonus of the NOWEEDS installed.
