V8 1LE a bigger bargain than the V6 1LE?

This is all within the context of handling...

First, all manuals get some form of LSD, correct? I guess "bargain" is a bad choice maybe "value for the money" would be a better description.

I say that because for the V8 you get the "special" pieces of eLSD and a tuned Mag-ride with the big-boy tremec. Well, and the V8 but I'm leaving power out of this because that gets selected first I think. But, I think it's defintely worth the package price of $6500.

The V6 1 LE since it is the some of the good bits from the SS. But can't it be replicated - or, bettered by just slapping on an aftermarket (BMR?) suspension? So why not started with a used 2016 V6 manual or a new 2017 that might have steep discounts?

I guess you could extend this to the 2.0 T4, manual also.

I think my neighborhood installed rails in the street, cuz yeah...Racecar!

All I know is that the handling, cornering, braking on the SS 1LE is pretty amazing.

It really comes down to what you personally want and/or can afford.

At $32,895 sticker price, the 1LS 1LE is a screaming deal. It's $5005 less than a base 1SS, but has the exact same suspension, brakes, and tires, but adds forged wheels, dual mode exhaust, and all the cool 1LE bits like the splitter, rear spoiler, blacked out hood and mirrors, and suede steering wheel and shifter. If you don't need or want the weight, fuel consumption, or insurance rate of the V8, then the 1LS 1LE makes a very strong case for itself.

Assuming the SS 1LE still "requires" the PDR, that makes the 1SS 1LE a $45,700 sticker price, which is not an insignificant price jump of $12,805. If the V8, Recaro's, Mag-Ride, PDR, 8" MyLink, 6-piston Brembo's, head's up display, and eLSD are worth that price and you can afford it, then it's for you.

Given the massive price delta, there's just no reason to wax one way or the other on which is "bigger bargain", because they're both a tremendous amount of performance for their price.

A friend of mine that bought a GT350 said if he had to do it all over again, he would get a camaro 1LE. The performance for the money is just unreal V6 or V8. Just comes down to what one you want to afford.

I think the V6 1LE only upgrades the front brakes.

But anyway the V6 is still a good fun car, I watched Carlos Lago do a figure 8 test of the 2LT 1LE and he was able to induce oversteer very easily.

Both the 1LE V6 and V8 version have their own selling points.

V8
- Power
- eLSD
- MagRide
- PTM (more track modes)
- Stronger transmission
- Bigger brakes
- Bigger, better tires + wider wheels
- Recaros are standard
- HUD
- Downsides: Weight, bigger, more expensive tires/brakes/clutch, requires premium gas and sucks more of it.

V6
- Lighter weight
- Lower running costs on the track (tires/brakes/clutch,oil)
- Lower purchase price
- Can use regular gas and gets much better mileage
Downsides: Recaros are extra cost, transmission is not as stout, no HUD, no PTM (Only one track mode), no eLSD, no MagRide

It really all comes down to what you will do with the car. If you are going to track it heavily, yes, you'll go faster with the V8, but you'll need deeper pockets to do that. If you've never actually tracked a car, it beats the HELL out of the vehicle. After one hard track day you really need to change the oil. Five days (if you are lucky) and your tires and pads are gone. Ten days and you'll need new rotors. Every time you do a track day, you will burn at least one entire tank of gas at the track, maybe more. Add up the differences in cost for gas, oil, tires, pads and rotors and the V6 is probably half as expensive to track.

The cheapest V8 1LE I've seen advertised was $40K. The cheapest V6 1LE with Recaros was $30K. So the V8 version is $10K more, or 33% more than the V6 version. Insurance is probably easier on the V6 as well.

The wild card in all of this is depreciation. The V6 doesn't seem to be selling well at all. This might carry over into resale, or it might not. If they only end up making 1000 V6 1LE versions or something, maybe they will hold their value. The V8 1LE probably won't do any better than the 5th Gen ones, so a little better than a standard SS, but a lot of people want the interior bling factor and it isn't there with the 1LE. Also, the 1LE is already "only" the third best Camaro as far as performance. I hate to break it to you all, but look at history. The top dogs also hold their resale better, even if the "lesser" cars are still awesome.
