Trans fluid temp gauge not working ('17 SS 1LE)

Hey All!

I've got 180 miles on this sucker and was rolling through the gauges today. I noticed that the trans temp gauge is simply not moving at all, never makes it past 100. Now I know it's cold out (30's here in GA), but this is a fully warmed up car, and this seemed weird to me.

My C7 with the transmission in the back still at least registers.

Anyone else notice this? Does this thing really run that cool, or is my temp sensor DOA? What's been your experience?

THANKS!

My temps stay pretty low (even that low). Try to get the transmission hot, lots of shifting, and see if that makes it move. I find it unlikely that the transmission temp gauge wouldn't work, but anything is possible.

I was thinking that, will probably wait for a nice warm day after break in and thrash this sucker a bit. Just want to confirm that it is working before tracking it.

THANKS BUD!

I believe the 1LE has a very effective trans cooler, so it might not get hot enough to move the gauge if the outside temps are that low.

Ya I noticed that on mine also it takes quite a while to show any readings but yes it does work. Sometimes after driving it for about 30 minutes or so you should start to see it rise.

Awesome. Wasn't too worried, and frankly if this thing stays that cool I am a happy dude! GREAT INFO

I wish these cars had a dry sump, my grand sport engine oil would stay ultra cool also. 10qts on a 1LE should be very good, but that dry sump would've been killer!

THANKS!

You have to drive more than a few miles to get the trans temp over 100.

I am wondering the same thing too. I have a '16 SS and my gauge also never gets past 100. I have about a 25 mile drive to work in stop and go traffic. I never noticed it before until now. Apparently you want the trans temp to be as low as possible. So it's not necessarily a bad thing (if the gauge is actually working).

Totally normal. When you get the car broken in run it hard thru the gears and to higher RPM and it will move up to about 125-140. On a 2.5 mile road course last summer in 84 degree temps mine only ever hit 175. The trans-cooler is just that good.....

My 1LE is the same, never moves off of the 100° mark. It will probably be even harder now since I swapped the transmission fluid over to Royal Purple MAX ATF.
