Automatic Car Wash

I have the 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible and live where it's cold. has any of you with this model took it through the auto car washes? Not touchless as they don't clean. I buy my cars to drive and the cloth brushes now days don't seem to be a problem. So do they fit through safely without body damage. I wonder about the front spoiler the most.

Took my 50th through one a few times before I got rid of it. No problems at all.

Simple answer - it's all individual.....Some washers are clean , depending on how they keep their equipment, some are filthy. Learn to do a rinseless......it's just a lot easier in your garage, quick, and safe. A good rule of thumb to use it when the car is really really dirty, like up in the Northeast in winter, and hand wash all of the other times. Rinseless instructions below in link.

Never use an auto carwash that touches your paint. Especially your car is really dirty!

I will only use touchless and even then i feel bad because the water is recycled and re-used multiple times aka youre having high pressured dirty abrasive water blasted at your car.

Whoever washes his or her car automatically and not by hand with the 2 bucket system... is not a real car enthusiast.... Don't understand people don't fugkin mind their pain full of scratches and swirls...

I used to go to Racer Wash in Lubbock, they seemed to be really good about not messing up the paint.

Just be VERY cognizant of the fender "FIFTY" emblems. The "Y" on the passenger side is especially vulnerable. Towels and such catch on it easily I can only imagine what an automatic wash might do. Having a Vert myself I'm also concerned about the high pressure of the touch-less wash on the top, but apprehensive about the other ones because of the emblems. Just my thoughts.

I really think it depends on you. There are a few people who take care of them like a trailer queen, there are a few people who drive them into the ground and a bunch of people in between. I keep my Camaro garaged and under cover but drive it as much as I can. I have a 03 Caddy as my daily driver and it takes a beating every winter and I use a car wash but every spring I do minor paint corrections and sealant and it looks better than most cars half her age. I have noticed that the paint is super soft on the new ones. I have finally trained my wife to use the door handle, not the glass or the door edge to close it.

Support your local mobile detailer. You can probably find someone who will come to your house and give you a hand wash or rinseless wash on a schedule ( I know you could if you were in Frankfort KY) That person will give a f***, unlike your automatic car wash. Not much chance of damage if you do it my way

The spinning brushes are awesome. They clean really well and give you that brushed steel look. Quite impressive.
