The SS 1LE engine is the exact same spec LT1 as every SS since they came out in late '15. So they have been in thousands upon thousands of Camaro SS's. I can only recall reading about one engine failure on here since. This was most likely just a bad apple, it happens. My '03 Cobra engine took a sh*t at 200 miles...they put a new engine in it (and gave me a sizable kickback due to diminished value), and I put about 50,000 miles of extra boost on it with no real issues...

I wish I had some real news but this is all I know at the moment - my dealer sucks. As you may remember, I was told by my service tech that the motor would be stripped down Friday or Monday and that he would call me Monday at the latest to let me know what was going on with the motor. He did not call me; so, I called him yesterday afternoon at 3:30 and left a message. He called me back and said "it will be later this week because we have a lot of serious engine issues at this time in service and I need 2 bays to work on your car - they are not available until later this week but I should know something by this Friday."

This is starting to bother me. How long am I to wait, not even be offered a loaner, and really have no indication that I can rely on as to when the verdict will be rendered?

I am TRYING to be patient but I think it is starting to get ridiculous.

Woah no loaner? I thought that was GM policy now? Where is the regional service rep in this process?

Yeah, they should offer you a loaner. Every time I bring my car in for warranty work they give me a loaner no questions asked.

Same here my dealer sets me up in a loaner of my choice. I borrowed a colorado when I needed a truck for errands and I got a 2SS 6 speed when I just needed transportation but didn't want to be stuck in a cruze.

I do the same thing LOL. Since I don't have a truck, they give me a Silverado which is always very useful!

Getting a loaner also gives them some extra incentive to get the issue resolved in a more timely manner.

I feel your pain......this is a long time for diagnostics. The engine more than likely doesn't need a complete tear down, just to find out what happened........like a dropped valve....etc?

Guys need to understand most of the time delays are because of the Dealer. It only takes GM half a day to approve a serious warranty issue.

Yes, seems this dealer is not the best on multiple fronts... should definitely contact the regional rep or someone else above them.

For what is essentially one of their flagship performance cars, I assumed they'd want to squash this bug quickly and move on. Apparently not.
