I'd say anything over 1200 is getting excessive for a street car. I think the author must be more acclimated to Ford power or lack thereof.

Very poor article and not just in the regard to horsepower. I'm guessing that this guy has some serious Liberal convictions and thinks that a Prius might be the best car for all of us. 650 HP is more than enough for the majority of power junkies out there. I'm just out of a C7 Z06 and can tell you that this car is waaaay faster than I expected. The Zl1 appears to extremely close in its performance metrics and I am really looking forward to owning one but in manual form this time around. I doubt if I'll really feel any difference in acceleration. The power to weight ratios that have been achieved with the Z06 and ZL1 are really more than what can be used on the street and quite formidable on any track. There will always be a few who want more and that's just fine.

"Manual-mode downshifts could be quicker. The transmission also didn't feel too willing to lose multiple cogs at a time in manual mode."
This is concerning ... |

It's all relative but too much power for me would be when you're spinning in 3rd+ gear on warm street tires in good weather.

Sounds like totaling different algorithms with clutch activation in manual mode.

Article sucks.
But let me answer his question that he starts the article with... Can'tHave2MuchHP Really though, however much is still decently drivable and reliable is just fine. Much over 850 RWHP and you'll be breaking stuff left and right no matter the car. Below that and everything is pretty fun while still being reliable. |

Loss of traction in 3rd gear at speed may not be considered "too much power" by some but it is surely more power than the car is capable of using during street use on a street worthy suspension. Overkill can be very cool.

I will agree with one thing from the article -- driving on the freeway this car is hard to keep under 80. It is so planted and well mannered at high speeds that it's easy to feel like you're doing 70 when in fact the speedometer says 90.
