Thank you. So we definitely need a MOST decoder to get a full range audio signal to work with.
Does anyone know if there is a standard for encoding this type of data stream?

False

Two complete instructionals have already been posted and well documented.

That's output from the amp. Take a look at Tecboy's diagrams. It definitely has MOST data into the amp.

Using output from the amp means you are subject to it's output which is not full frequency. It can be used but will not be a clean signal. People wanting an "unmolested" signal need something to decode the MOST input from everything I've seen.

Apologies. I was informed wrong and you are correct. The new 6th gen is using MOST. You'll need to find a DSP that accepts MOST or can simply pull the signal off the output side of the stock amp. There is however, an insignificant difference in doing so therefore, it's pretty much the only place to get a signal from at this time. Basically, it is clean enough and you aren't going to notice a difference.

if you want to get rid of the bose amp..then yes...you will need to find a company that makes a MOST adapter....i have not found any yet...the other way mentioned above...is taking the speaker outputs of the amp....to power aftermarket amp solution...you need to use some sort of sound processor that takes all the channels...and sums them up...then offers rca output to connect to an amp...what i understand is that each set of speaker outputs of the bose amp...are eq'ed ...so you need to sum all the outputs to get a full range signal...

everyone who has started a thread adding amps and speakers to the bose system...stop short of posting final results for some reason...

I currently drive a saab 93 with 3 amps linked by optical MOST. Back in 2003 over at saabcentral we worked out a frequency map for the speaker outputs. You need some software and an oscilloscope for that. The solution for that car was pretty simple: 1) replace the stock speakers for mids and highs. 2) Amp the subwoofer output (stock was 6x9's) to a new 12" sub in the trunk. The only weak amp was the subwoofer amp.

This Bose amp needs to be mapped. Amar Bose is known for boosting and cutting certain frequencies to compensate for differences in audio perception. It's the core Bose philosophy, and many people love their stuff without realizing any of the tech behind it. But where other manufacturers strive for "flat audio reproduction," Bose does not.

Would it be possible to install a low-profile sub in there? I would love to have some extra base, but I don't want to lose all of my trunk space doing it.

don't need a low profile sub, a standard sub will fit in there just fine.

There is nothing "Bose" in the 6th gen behind the paid advertising sticker found inside the vehicle. The speakers are $5 paper cones out of china and the amp is some misassembled jumble of circuits that produces something barely qualifying to be called sound.

Don't misunderstand me, technology has come a long way in a decade or two and the threshold of "quality sound" compared to the human ear has plummeted to levels any amateur hack with some materials can replicate in his garage. But there is absolutely nothing "Bose" in the vehicle as any nominal person would conceive as being Bose as it relates to their $500-$5,000 speaker technology.

The "trunk space" as you understand it is false. GM introduced false panels to make the trunk appear square, there are miles and miles of cubic feet behind those trunk panels. Remove the panels and your trunk would damn near double, easily.

My problem is that I don't want it to look like a DIY job. I like my mods to look as stock as possible. I would put it behind the seats, but I don't want to lose some of my trunk space (this will be my dd, so I need it to have some practicality). Has anyone put a sub opposite the battery, and if so, could someone post pictures and describe their process? Thanks!

I am waiting for the same thing you are.

1) Some way to intercept the signal before it goes to the amp. I happen to like my noise cancellation and I would like to keep it. All I want to do is get a subwoofer channel before it goes into the amp and leave the rest alone. I like my NPP exhaust, and I like the way there is ZERO drone. I am not ready to give that up to get more bass.

2) Someone to build a driver's side sub box. I am shocked nobody is selling one yet. They are staples on 4th and 5th gens. Just a matter of time for this one. Definitely the easy one of the two, and nobody even has it yet.
