brake grinding noise

Quick brake question. My car now has 7500 miles on it (1SS). Whenever the car has been sitting overnight especially when there was precipitation the day before the bremos will make a harsh grinding sound when the brake are applied.. This will last approx 1 mile or so. Pretty certain this was normal however I just want some reassurance as I did not hear this in the first 5000 miles. Thank you.

Probably just a light layer of rust forming on the rotor while parked. I get it just after washing the car.

Bed the brakes and it should stop.

Its surface rust, has zero to do with bedding the brakes or not. The behavior is normal, after the first few times the car uses the brakes it will smooth back out, the harder you brake the faster it will smooth out.

All my vehicles get bedded brakes when I get them so I don't have pretty shiny silver surfaces that rust like those. If they get rust it's the non contact areas of the pad. Also it means they as rule do not squeak or grind. So yes bed the brakes.my DD sits in all conditions never rusted like those.

If the brakes were not bedded in they would squeak, and possibly vibrate under all conditions not just when the car was sitting during high humidity conditions. The fact that you specifically never had surface(hard to believe) rust doesn't mean that somehow a procedure that is done when the brakes are new(bedding them in) translates to the outcome.

What kind of lug nuts are those? I've never seen ones like that.

VWs have those, those aren't actual lug nuts but plastic caps that cover the lug nuts themselves
