A 3/27 build, mods and a 1500 mile break in puts me potentially beyond the season start anyway.

Dilemma... do I cancel my current order, suffer through one more season with my GT3, buy this race ready version (3 seconds is a LOT) and be ready for 2018.?

And yes, I know, there will always be faster iron...
Keep your GT3 no matter what you decide. Long tern that is a car you want to keep

If you want Camaro primarily as your track car wait for 1LE package. Maybe by then there will be a new Z/28 to consider also. But if it is mostly street duty I would stick with your order

I have 2015 Z/28 and DSSV shocks are not for DD unless you are hardcore

Both cars had auto trans, because they ordered the 350 engine and at that time, you got an auto with the 350, mandatory. If you wanted a stick shift, you got the 305 engine.
Yep, I wanted the manual so I accepted the 305! - was my first real performance car had a lot of fun in that thing.

Am I the only one here thinking that this means there will be no Z/28?

I mean what is left besides a N/A motor? It looks like GM won't be offering one.
We still don't know what the LT5 is do we? I thought it was appearing in a caddy first as a small displacement forced induction motor . . . Why would GM develop the ZL1 further AND do another Z/28?

As far as the 1LE goes you can now get the springs and bars over the counter from GM along with the mrc tuner so you can add it to any SS. You can also add recaros to any SS now too. So things are getting better for Camaro enthusiasts who want it all. Will GM do what they did with the 5th gen and eventually offer DSSV shocks over the counter for the 6th gen?

Question is what will they do for MY 2019 and 2020? I assume gen6 will run that long and read that the next ATS/CTS will come MY 2019 so gen7 Camaro will be tied to that.

Wow! What a cool model for this platform. Looks to address the biggest beef with last gen Z/28 with its difficult street manners. This car will do everything very well. I say Kudos to the Camaro team.

Maybe not your modded Z but a stock Z you could probably push to 80-90%. After a weekend at spring mountain and getting a lot of track time out there I feel I was easily able to push the car to 75-85%. Its the last 5-10% that's really hard to acquire!

Oh, completely agree. After a 1 or 2 track days, with lessons. I'm sure I can handle it a bit better. Was just saying just from natural skill set. I mean, I'm 40 now. I used to race go-karts back in the day, but does that really count? haha. I don't think so. I'm 40. Reaction time is a bit slower than it used to be. I have more to lose now, but I am talking about street as I still play at night in the street scene. Maybe that has something to do with it. On a track, give me a full day out there, yea, I'd come back feeling a bit more comfy for sure.

I came from a GTR, so. That takes almost zero skill set to drive fast. I actually have to drive this car. Before the GTR, I had a '14 Zl1, but that wasn't a Z06. I'm digging this Zl1/E model tho. I'd daily it.

I have a 997.1 GT3 and dont plan on tracking it anymore since i purchased my SS 1LE. The 1le will probably turn just as fast of a lap time and it is much more enjoyable to drive because of all of the torque. Just my .02

Maybe they already did. Remember the 7:23 time that showed up on the Nurburgring fast list, and then it later disappeared.

OK so Sledgehammer started a thread about this topic and I said no way that Chevy would build a ZL1-1LE before they build a 2SS-1LE. Well.... I'm battling 0 for 100 trying to out guess Chevy. One of these days maybe I will learn to keep my opinions to myself.

I'm very surprised with the new ZL1-1LE, from all the spy shots I thought for sure it would be the new Z28. At least I was not alone on that guess but it did not bring my average up at all. I will go out on a limb and say I'm not really sure about a possible Z28 in the future to line up with this car but remember I am 0 for 100 so far.

Full disclosure, I'm still a few years away from trading my 2012 ZL1 so I have no immediate urgency in getting a new car. I think for me it is a matter of getting used to the canards and elevated wing on ZL1-1LE. Hell, it me a year and a lot convincing from Mr. Wyndham to accept the wing spoiler on the current ZL1 from the deck mounted spoiler on my 2012.

To me a bigger concern is the LT4 / ZL1 proving itself on the track with all of you ZL1 buyers taking them to the track this summer. I know about the 11 heat exchangers / radiators and the enlarged S/C top to keep the engine cooler. I read all the journalist stories about it staying cool no matter how hard it was pushed BUT ....... this was also said about the Z06 when it was released. It was not until the Z06 was being driven by the new owners did the over heating problems start to be known after they put track time in. In time and numerous Z06 buy backs later did everyone know it was not as reliable as advertised on the track.

For me, if I was buying today, I would choose the ZL1 (non 1LE) because 98% of the time it would be street driven and I would not buy the 1LE package for just 2% usage time. Those of you that will track the 1LE package more often, I anxiously await to read your reports and opinions of what this car is truly capable of. I do hope one is available for the Lightning Lap this year so we can see how it compares against the rest of the world.

You have a point there...

but I guarantee we will see times at some point. We know the car was there.

Not only the journalists but the GM guys as well. I sat at lunch with Aaron Link and grilled him over this very subject. It was a huge relief to hear his comments about long runs in the AZ desert and in Vegas and all the track testing he was involved with. It should be a non-issue. And as a die-hard manual guy he was also totally sold on the A10.

I've got my eye on a 3 gauge a-pillar pod and will be watching IAT2 on my car and will be able to report numbers or I'll plug up my laptop and check them there. I think one of the reasons we don't see a Z/28 is due to no heat soak and the additional LT4 hp. Would have been hard to beat.

Problems is high school seniors can't afford anything close to this.

I just don't see the appeal of this thing at all. I would be embarrassed to pull up in it. To each their own I guess.
