ZL1 1LE Consensus

Now that we've had a bit of time to process the ZL1 ILE, what do we think?

Impressive. An absolute beast with creature comforts. It should shred the laptimes. Loving the wheels too.

Anyone else notice that the cutouts on the wheels mirror the shape of the nostrils on the SS?

I like the wheel and tire setup and the rear wing. Id rather source those much later to add to a ZL1

Yes...I noticed this on the test car pics from last year and again from the reveal pics.

Love the wheels. Love the suspension adjustability for the track. Like the painted hood way better on the base ZL1 than the blacked out version on the 1LE. I don't like the dive planes or splitter look, but I bet they are useful on a fast track. I would complain about the huge spoiler on the back but I have been driving around with a park bench spoiler on the back of my existing ride for 7 years. You get used to that. Tire and wheel package is to die for....

So look at the ZL1 1LE. Today, with the ZL1, you might remove the carbon fiber hood rain gutter to race and improve air flow. What if we went the other way. When not racing, remove the dive planes and splitter. If this can be wrenched off, now we have a better esthetic. I might also look into the Hyper Blue hood as a replacement and a mosaic black standard splitter. Leave the hyper blue hood on all of the time. Put the aero for fast tracks or high speed runs. Leave the big wing on the back as a post card to the people you just dusted.

From what I can see the splitter is part of the front bumper. Also the black hood is just vinyl you can peel off.

Love it, but committed to owning a ten speed automatic and a fifty year (2017) model. Given the amount of wind tunnel development on both the ZL1 and the ZL1 1LE, I wonder if replacing the ZL1's spoiler with the big wing without the front aero changes would actually HURT the ZL1's aerodynamics ??

i absolutely love the zl1 1le, literally everything about this car screems GM performance, i like how they are adopting the bigger wing to adjust for downforce and the canards (dive planes on the front.

I was just at World of Wheels here in KC and the zl1 was on the display right next to the 1le. I liked the 1le better, and now i can have BOTH!!!

Anyone want to hazard a guess as to why the (ZL1) 1LE needs more airflow than the regular ZL1? (No, I don't know the answer)
