Lightbulb NEED ADVICE ON INTAKES!!

I'm going to buy a cold air intake for my car this week but I'm unsure of which brand to get and I don't know if I should get oiled or dry. To be honest I don't know what the car needs or should take and what the difference is. I was thinking of getting rotofab or CAI. I'm going to order from phasetek but I didn't see if they had the CAI intake. Thank you!

Virtually everyone here will jump on the Rotofab bandwagon. I'm sure even Rotofab themselves will chime in--suffice to say, CAI inc. won't be far behind, either. Get what you think looks aesthetically pleasing and call it a day. If you're chasing dyno numbers or track times, then you'll want to narrow down your choice.

Both CAI and Roto-Fad show about the same performance gains. I've talked with several tuners that agree to this. Some have preferences for some personal reason or another. Really comes to looks and or preference. And price. Roto-Fads cost a bit more...

USAF said it best. That being said I don't think you will find a negative review of the roto fab so no reason not to get it unless you do not like its looks.

Here is the list of 3rd party dyno results for our system.
Jannetty Racing, the company who published the well known CAI comparison test for the 5th gen, has said a few times that the Roto-fab system is the best performing CAI he has tested for the 6th gen Camaro.

You will also find that the Roto-fab system produces an AFR that lays right on top of the AFR graph for the stock system. This is a detail that you will want to pay close attention to whensure shopping for a CAI.

From JDP Motorsports, Bone Stock vs. Roto-fab, Stock tune

From CNC Motors, Bone stock vs. Roto-fab, Stock tune

From SCT Performance, Bone stock vs. Roto-fab, Stock tune, AFR included below.

From Abdulisraddd, supporting mods: secondary cat delete. stock tune.

From EFI Tuning, PTB+Intake+Tune vs. PTB + Intake + Tune + Roto-fab, AFR included below.

From JRE, stock intake vs. Roto-fab CAI. Supporting mods unknown.

From ADM Performance, LT4 S/C vs. LT4 S/C with Roto-fab

From Davenport Motorsports, Heartbeat S/C vs. Heartbeat S/C with Roto-fab

Would you happen to know where I can find the CAI cold air intake? And does oiled or dry make any difference?

I think Maryland Speed carries the CAI brand. As far as whether or not it makes a difference, that just depends if you like white or red when you look at your filter. It'll also depend if you want to do maintenance on your filter (cleaning, oiling, etc.) or just simply replace it when the service interval comes along.

If you're trying to scrape every little bit of horsepower out of the cold air, read the above posts by Rotofab, who very predictably chimed in. I'm honestly quite surprised CAI hasn't tossed in their two cents, yet.

You can always look at the Sponsors section for deals and for products. They also have nice links right to their websites.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. When it comes to third party reviews from those who have tested, the Roto-fab intake is the one cosistently showing gains.

It's a lot of money to just drive your engine more lean. And then over time the ECM may just figure out the game and you're back to where you were except for your bank account. I don't say this to start an argument, just not convinced they do anything. The fact that they advertise as CAIs is enough to know they are falsely representing a product. They are just different filter elements. You may be better off to get rid of the sound baffles and enjoy more noise and the perceived power that brings, similar to an exhaust change.
