I bought a wireless charging case low profile and works great in my 2016 Silverado. Was only $20 on amazon. I have the iPhone 7 not the 7 plus.

Love the wireless charging pad! Just wish there was a technology to connect to Android auto via the wireless charging pad and eliminate the use of cables altogether.

Android phones have had this for years...take it from an IT tech, ditch the Apple phone ASAP. Check out the new Galaxy S8, lights years ahead of what Apple will be putting out later this year.

It's coming, not sure when and what wireless tech it will need/require, but it is in the works.

Tried an S7 edge and while I will agree that it has loads of features and more capability to do things that Apple has locked down, I hated it. A couple of big reasons:
1 - It was good at everything but actually making a call. Reception was horrible and is a known issue with the Samsung phones. most people overlook it because the majority of people don't make calls in the same way they use the other features.
2 - Nothing is integrated well. Yes, you have apps for videa, email, etc, but with Apple, it just works together. With the S7 I felt like I had to configure everything. Which, if that is your thing, opens immense capability - most of which though, I had no desire to and would never use.

My final review of the S7 was that it offered fantastic features that I would never use because I was too busy/lazy to figure out and configure.

Apple was suppose to release wireless charging for the iPhone 7 but the cost came out of hand for the amount of time they had before release (IP67: Water Resistance, was more important). They wanted an additional year to configure the technology.

There is a rumor out that the 10th Anniversary iPhone will have it. The rumor came from a Chinese company that has not been wrong before about apple products. It will feature the same wireless charging my Apple Watch: Series 2 has (Love it btw).

For the time being there is alternatives to wireless charging on Amazon. $10 it slaps to the back of the phone (Sits in between phone and case) and allows for wireless charging.

Still if you have wireless charging the Apple CarPlay/Android CarPlay will not work. It is required to be plugged in for this.

That would be revolutionary! NFC should to be used for android auto & carplay as well. It's already in place for payments. Now make us drivers happy too! lol!

YES!

Well with Apple Carplay they say the next-gen will not require a cable. But I highly doubt that there will be some way to get that to work in our cars. GM will say "buy a new one".
