Cadillac's new CUE software

So it looks like the Cadillac CUE system is getting new software and a new UI, which will allow OTA updates via Onstar. It looks like it will make its way down to older Cadillac models as well. Pretty cool if our Mylink systems get something similiar pertaining to OTA FW updates...here's to wishing!

why not? Now it will not be something we get for an update. But spread across the GM brand in new vehicles... it will.

It won't make it to older vehicles. GM doesn't offer upgrades to previous years unless there is a critical safety flaw that they can't get around.

The new OS is essentially MyLink 3.0. The 2016 Camaro runs MyLink 2.0 and 2017 runs MyLink 2.1. Since the 2016's aren't getting a 2.1 upgrade, there is zero chance we will get an upgrade to 3.0 on existing vehicles.

I sure hope the new MyLink framework also includes HD radio and ditches the XM traffic for RDS traffic. OTA updates should include 5 years of map updates along with the 5 year OnStar basic service. Maybe they'll support wireless Android Auto.

If they are going for an app store approach, then I hope the OS vendor is using an AOSP model to make it easy for developers to submit their apps. Granted these app submissions are likely going to be paid submission reviews before they are allowed on in the store for legal reasons, but this also means less apps will be available if GM doesn't enable a method for devs to monetize.

Since I don't want to do payment transactions on the car infotainment unit, a mobile app for the store should be available. You buy apps from the phone and it gives you an activation code or release on your vehicle. It could be an expansion of the MyChevrolet app.

This is not a software upgrade, its a multi module hardware refresh; you wont see it anywhere but new vehicles.

The mention of 2 BT devices at a time made me wonder if it might be.

As I understand it, Cadillac has the most generous infotainment budget of all the GM brands including Corvette. So the best systems will always be available on Cadillacs.

It's the exact same as the rest of the hmi based cars. Gen 6 camaro has the same infotainment system as the Cadillacs. Just like the "new latest and greatest " system will be in the 2018 terrain as well.

Panaray is not available as an option for the Camaro. I'm not saying that is the best available. It just seems the Gen6 project budget did not even allow for a high end audio option. I would have paid extra for something better.

I'm talking the core of the system, the audio is always brand specific but only one vehicle has panaray currently I mean it's cool but it's also a considerably more expensive vehicle too
