Hi folks,
Totally new here, and totally new to my Camaro as well. One "Arctic Blue" 2017 V6 automatic LT1 RS. I haven't had her but a couple of weeks but I have to say just wow. Can't imagine what you SS people are experiencing, but I'm very happy. So.... I want to do lots of things to her when the time comes, but as of today I did my first "mod" - a Vitesse Throttle Controller. What a difference, I totally love it. Even in sport mode, this car has been making me work for it, particularly off the line. I took her out on bone dry pavement for the first tests of the Vitesse TC and even at setting 2 I could already tell a huge difference. At 4 I noticed her lifting a bit in the front on launch, and at 6 I noticed that I could very easily light them up hard even with the traction control on it all it's nanny glory. I thought that 6 would be too much, but actually I decided to leave it there and tour the county with it. I like it, it makes the car feel much more like an actual muscle car. The only downsides I can see are that if you were to slip up and nudge it too hard on the wrong surface, she'd sing opera like mad and potentially want to fish, it can make the ride a little rough if you're fiddly on the gas pedal, and it definitely is impacting the MPG, but that's mostly my driving I would expect. But that's all ok, I set the Eco mode to 7 for now and it's a lot more like ordinary sport mode. I find myself coming back to sport mode on the Vitesse more often than not, but... if ever once I can convince myself to drive like a sissy for a whole trip, the eco mode will be there waiting. Anyway... Here she is on the day I bought her (don't have any other good pics just yet) and also a pic of the placement for the Vitesse TC. The main box and the control box are both stuck down via ScotchMate MP-3526 / MP3527 velcro. Hopefully it will hold up in the scorching Florida summer heat. If not, I'll have to look at other options. Thanks for having me in the group, nice to be here! :-) Rick NR417 ![]()

Rolled up the door of the car shelter to air it out a bit (big thaw going on here now)... Winter sucks, come on spring!

Hopefully soon I can get it out and see how the new tires handle. But I really like the look, better then I thought I would. With the side skirts on also makes the new 22's blend in better. |

You know, at first I almost stormed out of the place in a temper fit. I'd come there to get a black, very base, LT1 V6, and they told me they sold it "but have you ever looked at the four cylinder turbo? They're great!" I was like "Yes. Online, I've looked at them plenty and NO I do not want an overworked four cylinder that sounds like an overworked four cylinder", lol. So then the guy says "Oh I totally understand but I think you'll really like it... We do have a blue v6 on the lot for a little more than the black one you were looking at..." At first I almost got up and started for the door because I just HAD a blue car with a steadily worsening rod knock and on top of bad memories I just did not want blue. I wanted something MEAN looking, something sinister. But the guy talked me into walking out there to look at this "blue" car, so I figured what the hell, WHEN I hate it then I'll walk out on him.
So, I walk through the densely packed lot, walk around some Malibus (had a 2005 V6 Malibu once, worst car EVER), and there she is nestled in between them. My first thought was, "O... M... G.... THAT is Arctic Blue? Wowwwwww" lol. Turns out it's kind of iridescent - it's blueness depends highly on the light quality and level. In gloomy light it's more blue, in bright sun it's more silver, but at no point is it really blue, it's just a hint of it. It puts me in mind of stainless steel that got a little too hot. I forgave it for being "blue" pretty much on sight, and then I noticed it was an RS so I forgave it for being a couple thousand higher as well. I took her out for a test drive with the agent riding shotgun, and on the freeway I punched it nice and hard and got a feel for the handling and acceleration. By the time we got back I knew I was coming home with it one way or another. :-) Rick NR417 |
