Very pricey at this point in time. Sales volumes and competition will drive these retail prices down sharply over the next 5-10 years. Electrics will actually be cheaper to produce when they are done in volume. What you are observing in this arena right now is only the tip of the iceberg and a small glimpse of what is to come.

Any smart individual would leave a Tesla or GT-R alone at stop lights. You must know your strengths and weaknesses.
Yesterday on a highway at about 70 mph some HC wanted to roll run. I was in my 15 Z/28. I gave him thumbs up and let him go. No need to run a straight line car that has 700+ ponies when I'm in a road course king with 505 ponies. It's not my strength.

People think they're insanely fast...and they are for a niche situation...And that is that instant torque down low. What really makes the Tesla's fast is the 0-30 and not necessarily the 30-60 after that. What I want to know is how do they get traction? In a roll race at 40 MPH, I do believe just about any HC/ZL1/Z06/ZR1/GTR etc would absolutely stomp it. But would not recommend trying to race them off the light unless you have the A10 and a drag radial, then you will probably get him after 50ish |

This is relatively very, very, new technology as is the mass production of these vehicles. Their numbers will increase exponentially over the next 10 years as the prices drop and the performance increases. Make no mistake about it, these cars are the future, absolutely no question. Internal combustion, reciprocating power plants in the vehicles we drive are on their way out whether we like it or not.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I posted this amazing article find regarding the increase in performance vs what Chevy originally quoted yet for some reason it's taken on a new life as a Tesla and electric thread. Back to this amazing car called the ZL1 folks!

We are blessed as performance enthusiasts to have a wide range of fast vehicles at this point in time. That is a good thing and so are the obvious comparisons that will be made.

Regarding weight overall...I believe Chevy weighs these cars with either 1/2 tank or full, that's at least 33 more lbs than your car right there, laynlo...And then, don't forget the car is equipped like a 2SS+, it's got extra & larger coolers, bigger brakes, more fluids (in the coolers), and the 10-speed is a few lbs heavier, as well. I'm far more interested to learn why the convertible manual -> auto weight is a different difference than coupe...

Seeing how most of these car test's and reviews go they hardly ever get better than the manufacturers spec's. This looks to be pretty promising. Is it possible that the A10 is that driver friendly?

Maybe. Could be that GM threw out some conservative performance numbers like they made it sound or maybe it's a little of both. You are right. Most manufacturer claims never seem to be duplicated by any of the reviews. I know I'm excited about finding out what I can do in the A10 when it gets here and is broken in!

We know that. Those cars will always be low volume and very expensive regardless. 40" flat screen TVs were $8,000, what are they now. Not an exact comparison but same general idea applies where volume dramatically reduces the per unit production cost.
