Perfect. Color sets off the blue, and the 19s are just the right size.

A little over 1/2 tank of gas, came to 3703 lbs. FYI, the ELSD on the 1LE adds 44 lbs. For comparison, my 2015 1LE was 3840. Last edited by JRL1LE; 01-31-2017 at 07:30 PM. |

Any reason for the 265s over 275 re-71rs? Didn't Ryan Otis use 275 width in his campaign? I'm looking for the right choice for my FS camaro- i had been planning on 275s up front and 285 in rear...
I should have gone with Stranoparts for my forgestar order... I've been waiting over 10 wks from another vendor. |

The main reason for my 265s is that I already had this set of tires from last season. My initial plan is to use the 19" set for driving on the street, for courses where a bump in gearing would help, and for wet events. Otherwise I will be using the 18" wheels for most events with 275/35-18 tires.

Update!! First event is in the books this past weekend, while I did not win the class I'm definitely encouraged with the result...3rd place only a few tenths out in a car that is 100% stock except for the wheels/tires!
It was a nice sunny day in the mid-50s at the Marina Airpark, medium grip concrete but the first event of the year meant semi-slippery conditions for everyone. I did 4 runs in the morning in the D-Street class on my 265/19 Forgestar/RE-71R combo, followed by another session of 4 "fun" runs in the afternoon on the fresh 275/18 TR Motorsports/RE-71R combo. Here are my impressions so far... 1. I have gotten used to seeing out of this car on the road, but I realized quickly seeing an autocross course in this car is challenging. I definitely had to learn the boundries of the car as I was having trouble placing it accurately. 2. Out of the box the suspension is much more composed than the Mustang Ecoboost I drove last season. Shocks will help eventually, but it works pretty well as-is...and I saw sustained Gs of 1.2 according to Solostorm. Still undecided about sway bars, but I will be discussing this soon with Stranoparts.com. 3. Steering response is slower than the Mustang (and my Focus ST), something I need to get used to. A good competition alignment will help turn-in for sure. 4. The turbo is laggy down low, but when it hits it pulls very hard all the way to redline...in other words, opposite from the Mustang. 5. Ice mode and electronic "nannies" are an issue that I will need to learn to drive around. The car does not respond well to lots of throttle followed instantly by threshold trail braking. 6. Despite it's size, this car transitions very well and can be hustled through slaloms. This is good news to me, as I will need all the help I can get keeping up with the Twins. As I said, I finished 3rd in class to 2 well driven and prepped "Twins" (Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S) in morning competition runs, with a time of 40.4xx (sorry no video of morning runs, tried a camera angle that simply did not work). After switching to the 275/35-18s I picked up about 7 tenths in the afternoon on this run... https://youtu.be/ZfnnNKYiwQw Other than the ice mode I got going into the tight corner before the finish (and the following slide from getting on the gas too early) I feel this run was pretty decent. Data says almost all the gain in the afternoon was in the short accel zones on this tight-ish course, which makes sense with the shorter tires...otherwise corner speeds and g-loads were very similar between both sets of tires. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the first outing, lots of work still yet to do but at least it wasn't way off the pace. Next up an alignment and a sway bar as we get ready for the San Diego Match Tour!

I'm not sure if you've said this in the thread but can you tell me what tire size your running on the c4 rims?? I really like the look of them!

Hah thanks for that What would you say was the largest change you felt with the wheel and tire size? As far as the ice mode goes it sounds very similar to my cobalt turbo I ran in DS and RTF(before the rule changed to street tires) Id did not like full throttle then slamming on the brakes. kinda had to do a slight lift, allow for some vacuum to develop then hammer on it. |
