This entire process is such a joke that it is comical. My local dealer has my order and it kept on failing with Garnet Red. He switched it to Nightfall Grey, and the order passed. I called two other dealers and both of them confirmed that they could get me a Garnet Red A10 ZL1 in this order cycle. It is very frustrating to say the least that my local dealer cant get the color i want but other dealers with "new" orders can get them..... Very maddening indeed. Why cant we get any straight answers on this subject??

Did those other dealers actually put in the order to see if there are constriants?

Becky posted the constraints in a different thread. Her information indicated 0 constraint's. 32 Garnet red, and 64? Krpton green. All with A10

So does 0 constraints for a10's mean that everyone with an order placed for a ZL1 with an automatic (excluding green and garnet red) will have their orders accepted this go-round? Is anyone with an order placed still at 1100 status?

Thanks for the input on this thread which is helping all of us begin to understand this process. - Thought about Mr. Wyndham's comment, slept on it, then a light went on. Let's see if I'm getting closer to the truth.
More than a year ago sales forecasts were made at GM of the demand for Zl1's, SUV's, etc.
Next number crunchers calculated the impact of this vehicle mix (using estimates of fuel efficiency) on the total impact on GM's CAFE.
Next GM reduces the number of these fire breathing Z monsters to meet CAFE.
THIS is the number of these beasts that are going to be made despite unmet actual demand, available production capacity.
Now franchise laws kick in and these Zees are assigned across the bi-nationwide (US and Canada) dealer network in a fair and impartial manner based upon a recent past 12 month period.
Dealers get their model year allocation and that's it.
Based upon franchise laws, it would even be impossible to reassign unused allocation.
The only way that GM could build as many as we wanna buy would be if the actual demand met or was less than the total number that they calculated to meet CAFE.

A confession - I admit that this whole obsession has been all about Ze / me which has impacted my inability to grasp this process.

I did the same thing. They had an allocation but not for a Garnet Red ZL1. They could order any other color I imagine but Garnet. Fact is there were about 32 specific dealers nationwide who could place that specific order. Unless you found one near you to place that exact configuration you'd have to wait another month. I didn't anticipate that with my guy. I just thought the first 32 orders entered would get picked up. That wasn't the case.

It's a mess for sure, I have a good friend (of 20+ years) that owns the dealership and he can't get answers on what's going on. As I have stated before I don't care when it comes in, just would like to know for planning purposes. IE vacations with the wife we would like to use the car for, etc.

If my prior assumption that the number of 2017 ZL1's has been essentially fixed before the first one rolled off the assembly line is correct, then that explains another fact. On another thread, members have been bemoaning the fact that Chevy is not advertising and that the Dodge Demon commercials are so cool. Why should Chevy spend any money advertising and increasing demand for a product whose supply it can't meet?
