So sad. As others have said, a reminder to drive safely and just enjoy our cars.

After almost losing my wife in an auto accident on 1/24/17, I am very stricken by this tragedy. My prayers go out to the family.

Same here. Couple of weeks ago it had been raining in Tucson and I-10 was soaked with plenty of traffic around 6:00pm. Didn't stop the douchebag in his Challenger from trying to race me several times before he finally just took off.
It could've been an empty, dry freeway and still would've told him to forget it.

I got a 2yr old grand daughter I'd like to see grow up. 1 minute of fun isn't worth it. I really feel for the family. If anyone wants to help, check the link below.

Stupid hurts. I have zero sympathy. A tragedy would have been the innocent family this tool could have killed while racing.

I am all for a bit of spirited driving every now and then, but you have to mind your surroundings.. If there are other people around, or confined streets, forget about it. You have to be able to back off and let it go when the conditions are not ideal and you are at greater risk or put other innocents at greater risk. And I could never imagine doing that with a family member in the car.

Truly sad.

Agreed, while it's sad. Zero sympathy from me as well, whether it be a Honda Accord owner or a 6th Gen ZL1, I don't care... speeding is speeding, just from the pictures of what's left of that car to begin with let's you know how stupid fast he was traveling, easily over 100mph. This will be a sad closed casket funeral.

He could've killed innocent people ... thankfully he didn't. Then the family wants to go and put out a go fund me page, for what? He owns a ZL1, I'm sure he had life insurance. Some of these Go Fund Me pages are ridiculous... He lost his life breaking the law and putting innocent lives at risk...

I'll receive heat for this comment, but I really don't care. I'm not here to intentionally bash a lost life, but if you lost family to someone illegally street racing or speeding like this guy, your attitude would be totally different.

Terrible. Guys and ladies, please discipline your automobiles. These are not toys; Camaros get up to speed in no time, and they can get away from you. Camaros can be fun, but mishandled and they can cause a lot of grief all over. Stay safe.

Life is fleeting and every death is sad. Some are avoidable. This one certainly was. My heart goes out to the family!! Street racing is illegal for a reason.

Very sad reminder that performance cars of today reach deadly speeds in an instant. I think the real problem is the false sense of security because these cars are incredibility stable, quiet, and smooth at speed. When traveling with certain people on open roads with no cars around to give an indication of speed, I ask my passengers how fast are we going, they say "75-80mph", I then inform them, "nope, try 102mph". They always reply, "Wow, it's so smooth, wish my car felt like this". Possibly another factor, and I am not placing blame on the daughter at all, is out of all my passengers the ones who yell; faster-faster, get that MF, put'em in his place, or yelled at me for not doing it or backing off is women. Almost every guy has tapped out early, I never really had any "car guys" as passengers so that might explain a little. I have to remind my current girlfriend you are mother of two and I am not putting you in the position of not being a mom to your kids, whether you are dead, paralyzed, or mentally diminished because of a head injury. I do not think this fellow Camaro owner/father did what he did with his daughter screaming to stop and going against her will. I think they were enjoying the car together as fathers and daughters often do and lost sight/respect of the consequences that can happen when traveling at such high speeds.
Thanks to the OP for posting, excellent reminder for some of us.
Condolences to the family and friends of the father and daughter.

No, no heat from me. I think we all recognize, at it's core, it's a tragic yet very avoidable loss of life, especially considering his young daughter. That said, he was an idiot and now everyone else in his family have to live with the outcome. It sucks, yet we see drivers, young and old, still continue to do this shit......

Keep it on the track.

And even the track can be deadly. The street is no place. But for the grace of God and the rev limiter, go I. (once)
