Ill have to play with mine and see. I let a friend drive it when I first bought it, he came back, got out, I got in and drove off. It never honked or beeped - I realized I didnt have the key when he called me 10 minutes later and told me the keys were still in his pocket.

My issue might have been the fact that it only happens once (according the the manual screenshot above). If he got out when he was gone driving it, Im guessing it wouldnt have beeped again when he brought it back to me.

The issue I have is not when I leave the keys in the vehicle, its when I leave the vehicle with the keys and leave the vehicle running. If I get back in it without the keys the DIC does not warn me that I dont have a fob in the car.

My personal pet peeve would be the fogging windshield(during summer) and how quickly it turns off when using the remote start(10 minutes).

I went and played with it - the car will warn me if I get back in without a key via a message on the DIC. It goes away as soon as you put the car in gear, so it is easy to miss.

BUT, the car will not shut down if you dont have the key - when you go to turn off the car it will turn off but the DIC says 'no key fob detected push brake to restart' and the car will restart without the key fob.

I have never tested it to see what it would do - I just knew you could drive off without the fob.

Here is what the Grand Cherokee does when the fob leaves - it doesnt stop beeping until you return with it:

Question for those of you who evolved to a higher tech level: Is there a way to do "playlists", like on a CD, using just one thumb-drive? Or do I need to use separate inexpensive USB gizmos?

On cup holders, anyone figure out what to with drinks in back seat? I have a couple of grand kids well on the way being motorheads & I want to encourage them with rides.
I feel ya for trying to encourage the grandkids to get into cars. But my kids, and my grandkids do NOT eat or drink in my car. They are always sorry when it get dumped all over the interior. but the interior is never the same.

Ya don't need cup holder in the back, suck it up buttercup!!!!

when I play music via bluetooth, I usually have the volume up high, but then I switch back to radio it doesnt go back to the radio volume so it's so loud. Idk if I'm the only one who hates this.

Playlists work fine on the thumb drive. Just be sure when you create them, they reference the tune on the thumb drive and not the same tune on your computer hard drive.

The reason the car will not shut down even if the FOB isn't inside is for safety, so it doesn't just turn off while driving, or turn off and leave you stuck blocking traffic somewhere. The reason it tells you "no FOB detected-push brake to restart" is so you don't get stranded somewhere when you forget your FOB and turn the car off. The option to restart the car without the FOB last for a short time, so you can restart it and go get the key. If you don't restart it quickly, it will not restart until a FOB is detected. I drive every car under the sun at work and almost all FOB operated cars are programmed this way. I have yet to see one that will turn off because the FOB leaves. Many beep and/or honk, some don't. Almost all give you a short amount of time to restart without the FOB.

What's with the double post?
The guy ask a legit question. Why not help him out rather than belittle him.
You'll mellow out when you get older. It's just a car.

Yea, it's just a car but the guy seems passionate, just younger maybe. I don't care for the blind spots so I bought a mustang. My 1st. hot rod was a 67 Candy Red Camaro.
