Alabama is not too far from Texas. If you're willing to travel, I know of an open allocation here, which would allow for the car to be better than half way broken in on your way home.

so is it normal for a dealer to just have like 1 allocation? I put a deposit at a dealer, and they said i'm behind one other person.

Since we are on this subject .. " allocations" , does it sit well with everyone that we get penalized for the dealers sales history or size? Let's face it allocation seems to be a reward / punishment system for dealers .. I know this is the way it has been forever with GM .. but why punish customers that are placing special orders?

My order is thru the dealer I work at .. that before last year had been in business since 1930... was sold and started as a new dealer in may of last year .. so there is not enough sales history .. so I figure that is hurting my order since Chevy chat says it is not a constrain problem this time. And I'm going to buy there or not at all.

Was this a rant ? Shrug?

I know dealership performance plays a part. Should I not waste my time with smaller dealerships for example?

Any experience would be appreciated.

This has also been a very, very informative sight. Thanks again..

The allocation system is the only LEGAL way that you can give dealers hot product. It is been proven in the courts for over 20 years. There is no other way to do it, after the American Honda allocation scandal of the early 70s. Executives went to jail. Dealers can make up orders if you just let it be wide-open and give cars to dealers that say they have a customer waiting. GM does not have the capability nor does any manufacture to vet "sold orders" the dealer tells you. And unfortunately dealers lie. So the only way Is on past sales. And the only way that they can build their allocation, is when the product is not hot, to sell more. And dealers don't want to do that. They want the hot product, but then when GM needs help at the end of a product run, they turn down product. That's why we're in the situation that we are. It's not right but it is the way it is.

As long as there are dealers - not Tesla centers owned by Tesla - you will have allocations for hot product. It doesn't last long, usually within less than a year, then everybody can get most if not all , all they need. Even with a hot product.

Here on Long Island there seems to be little to no allocations. And the few that did have them, already sold them. If I have to go to Texas for one, so be it!
If anyone hears about a NFG or MBM auto with PDR anywhere, shoot me a PM.
