Factory Paint Protection?

For anyone who has ordered the 3M Scotchgard paint protection film on their car, I have a few questions...

Is it installed at the factory or at the dealership?

How does it compare to Expel, etc.?

Overall, do you like it? Glad you got it or wished you hadn't?

Just trying to decide if I should order it or take my car to a specialty shop and get Expel (or something like it) installed.

Appreciate anyone's input...

Had Xpel installed last April on the entire front end. Excellent quality, waxable, nobody knows its there. Love it, good investment.
$600+ to repaint the front bumper.

It Is dealer installed, by a dealer employee, Who doesn't see these every day, and it's a skill to put it on. I wouldn't even attempt to have a dealer do this, I would use an authorized XPEL dealer. With film, it's all about the installer, not the products. Do the expel website for authorized people near you. And then ask to see a few of his jobs, and if he's ever done a six generation Camaro.

The 3M film is not installed at the factory. It's an LPO installed by the dealer. Most dealers don't have someone on site to do film installs so they will likely use an outside contractor.

I just had Suntek film installed over the entire front of my car, side-mirrors, lower rockers and high impact areas behind the rear wheels. When I was researching which film to go with, the consensus pointed to the installer being more critical then the brand of film.

Before you go with the 3M film, I would find out what contractor the dealer will use and then do some research on quality of their work.
