Driving a car with a Manual transmission campared to an Automatic. It's like comparing sex without a condom to having sex with a condom. Being able to "FEEL" the experiance is what it's all about.. O You say the AUTO is quicker!! Will ya know what the ladies say about a guy whos to quick,,,,, LOL I'll never have a Sports/Muscle car without a clutch.

Just because the majority of high-net-worth individuals prefer one or the other of those doesn't make either of them any better for me.

Hell, the implication that I'm supposed to envy the rich and follow their lead is almost a good enough reason all by itself for NOT choosing an AT or even a DSG.

When Porsche stops making manuals then we are in trouble. The rest of the so called high end market I could care less about. I am a big BMW fan but don't like anything they currently produce - regardless of trans choice.

Whether you prefer manual or not and have more fun driving with a stick shift or without, the future is coming either way. Best to adapt rather than stubbornly pretend it's not going to happen. I'm sure we'll be having the same kind of discussion when ICE's are phased out. The arguments against embracing the evolution will be just as weak.

Going by your measure the man with the condom will take your woman every time because he is the one always ahead of you. Get used to coming in second because life is just hard to deal with at times. Lol

You have to be well off to afford any of those cars, but what I am saying has nothing to do with that. The implication is manufacturers want to squeeze the last little bit of performance out of these vehicles. Not all of these vehicles require a high net worth; they just require a high income and a desire to spend rather than save money.

The most popular ride for people making over $250k per year is the Ford F series pickup, followed by Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler. RX350 is #4, BMW X5, #5. Out of that bunch the Wrangler is the only one available with a manual transmission. I suppose the F series pickup is the most popular vehicle in the US because everyone is following the rich.

Who here follows the premium car auctions? Gooding and Company, Barrett-Jackson, Russo and Steele..... I do, and I can tell you the classic Ferraris with that beautiful mirror-finished chrome gated manual shifter ALWAYS pull higher dollars and get more attention at auction than automatics or F1 style gearboxes.

The uber rich who buy new Ferraris aren't connoisseurs, they're snobs.

The guys who pay big bucks for classic Ferraris with manual transmissions get what it's about to drive those cars.

Imagine Sly flipping paddles instead of shifting a gated manual.

As I recently turned 50, I guess that means I am a dinosaur as well. I would never want/own a Camaro that wasn't a manual transmission. It is part of the driving experience. But us dinosaurs had our turn.............................

first off..the sound the paddles make in these cars is ridiculous.

second, i agree with the comment about when porsche stops making manuals we're doomed. driver purist car is not an automatic. That new 911r will be legendary. As well all the other porsches in the past

what is it? 500hp 4.0l naturally aspirated flat six? 6 speed manual rear wheel drive?

random thought while writing this: i really want stainless steel headers on this 1LE lol

-i think we all agree that we can care less about a few tenths of a second faster.
-auto is boring mashing your foot and letting everything do its thing
-horsepower feels ten times better slammin gears on and off the gas and clutch
-what great car scenes were filmed with automatics? i think we know the reason
