Front end issues

My car is now at the dealer (going on day 3 now) for issues that literally popped up within the last month.

1. Incessant squeaking forward of the cabin. On flat ground at up to 40-45 mph you can hear the sound and it's only gotten louder over time. Not sure what it is. I drove on the runway at the base (about as flat a road around here as you can possibly get) and it sounds like the shock is adjusting itself constantly and making the noise. But, I don't know...

2. Clicking noise from driver front wheel while turning at slow speeds. I know others on here have had this issue.

3. Metal on metal clunking noise while turning sharp at slow speeds. Again, I know others have documented the same issue.

The service writer rode with me to help document what I was hearing. I haven't heard back from them as of yesterday evening but plan on dropping by during lunch to check on progress.

Of course while I was there I mentioned the A/C windshield fogging issue to which he blew off. I'm going to make sure that they document that issue so GM will hopefully do something about it if not for my car but future year models.

I'm having similar issues. I'm dropping mine off at the dealer today, I'll let you know what they say. Hopefully it's just something small like a bushing.

Don't let them blow it off...

Meet the service manager and fill him in.

If he blows it off-

File a BBB complaint. Dealer owners and gm's hate this.

File a NHTSA Vehicle Safety Complaint

COMPLETE this 5-step form -- it takes about 5 minutes

Fogged up, and condensation covered windshields are not safe

Thanks for the info. I do plan on going up there tomorrow and digging into this further with the dealership.

He heard everything and did a really good job of documenting the issues. However, I still haven't heard anything. Headed up there tomorrow on my day off.

They might get to meet "The Bosun" if things aren't moving forward.

Stand by your lines!

They pulled the service bulletin regarding the clicking noise and fixed that issue. Of course that took 3 full days to look up a SB, pull the wheels, clean and put the wheels back on.

They're still troubleshooting the squeak and the service writer told me they may end up pulling the transmission. And, they're still stumped on the metal clunking noise in the front.

I'm hoping I get her back in as good condition as I dropped her off in now.

Dropped by the dealership to check on progress to find out AutoNation has called in GM techs. Apparently they lowered the transmission to look around the tunnel for something rubbing. No joy.

Once the tech(s) arrives they plan on dropping the exhaust/crossmember/drivetrain to look around. I hope they find something.

Do you happen to have the SB they used to fix this clicking noise? I could use that to help actually get my car fixed.
I took my car to two dealers because of all the issues you mentioned and some others. They told me a GM engineer was coming in to look at my car. They kept it a few days, did nothing and told me everything was normal. The clicking was due to tight suspension (mine clicks both to the left and right) told me the rear end groan was due to my tires (did it since day one) told me the knocking noise in my front end at slow speeds was normal, and told me my window wouldn't fog if I had defrost on. My car also had an issue withmy lane assist light in my side mirrors blinking like crazy when wet outside. I'm not sure how they deemed this worked as designed given it wasn't raining or wet any of the days they had my car.

Sorry, bud, I didn't get the Service Bulletin. But, if you have them do a search as I did they should find it fairly easily.

And, while mine was in the shop I made sure to have them document the windshield fogging issue.

The squeaking I had turned out to be a bracket on the shifter that was worn. The Service Manager I dealt with said they changed out the whole shifter for me. I can definitely feel it, too. It's very tight compared to before.

Good luck with your car!

Thanks man, I'll give it a shot.
