I almost wonder since multiple people have said theirs does it to, if it is indeed not a pulley?

But you said you sprayed some lube on it, what pulley exactly was it? Did the lube help?

Mine does the same thing too! I took it into the dealer last week and got the typical answer "could not duplicate". I'm taking it to a different dealer this week and have them check it out along with the diff. groan noise. The dealer said they fixed the diff. but it's much worse now!!

Guessing the car listed under your username hasn't been updated? You have a 16/17 SS?

Did you leave the car overnight and tell the tech that he has to start it so he can hear it? Maybe someone else started it and moved it, so when the tech got it it was warm enough not to do it?

You too huh...humm guess this is pretty common or "normal".

Has anyone had a dealer fix it? Or at least say what it is?

I didn't get enough start ups after lubing it up to notice I put it away for winter a week later was good for that week lol will see in the spring they never did fix my Z every year it came back and they would just tighten it at the Nissan dealership. But it would last about a summer!

Yes, 2016 2SS A8. I forgot to change that. We still have the 2010 2SS.

Actually they had the car for a week, so there were many chances to experience both chirp and groan. I explained the whole process that it's only on cold starts. Unfortunately they didn't fix either one. I called the dealer the following day to complain and had to leave a message. They never called back, so they are done. Going to drop it off at another dealer tomorrow and will let you guys know how it goes.

You remember what pulley in particular you sprayed lube on?

Is it possibly the secondary air pump running? How loud is the chirp and is it more of a whine? I haven't noticed this on mine otherwise I would try and have more info.

Like I said, cold start only, starts after a few seconds, lasts about 30 seconds...it's not that loud at all, but if you are listening for it, you hear it...I would definitely describe it as a chirp/squeak sound. Just like if you had a noisy pulley bearing or something like that...

Hey man I just did the best I could on each pulley I didn't spray them all

One you can slip the red long tip in behind and another I went from the front and only did the bolt. I will try and get a picture I doubt this would fix it though.

Due to my other car doing this I'm thinking it could be the belt is not tight enough or over tightened. Time will tell if it keeps up I figure the cold start is when the belts most cold and not warmed up causing the sound easier.

I just don't know where it comes from exactly :(

OMG, This is not a Nissan forum.

I notice this as well. It has something to do, IMO, with the heating of the cats or whatever this engine does to ensure that emissions are optimized in a cold system. There is more going on at this time than just a heightened idle. I am assuming this is what it is and have no idea why it makes this sound, but I certainly notice it on cold start ups after overnight or after a day at work when it's not hot outside.

This is exactly what I was thinking it was.
