Yeah. To be more clear, I went to my old dealer 4 times and they would not touch it. They cited it was working properly.

I took it to a new dealer who immediately said the rear clutch pack failed. They order the part, but couldn't get one so now are going to replace the entire diff. The car has been in the shop for over 2 weeks :(((((

The groan is just too much for me at this point. I been driving it more lately and noticing the diff groan way too much in the cold. They replaced my fluid once and now i will have to go back again and leave it overnight so they can see the noise and either do a fluid change or change the whole diff as i don't want to go to the dealer after this for the same dam thing over and over again.

Wondering, is rear diff groan more prevalent on cars that have a manual or automatic transmission??? Or, is it pretty even across both?

I've since filed a claim. GM made an offer to re-evaluate the car, at the dealership it just came from...but I will not go back to another dealership. The 4th one not only refused to do the work, also lied about having checked other concerns. After picking the vehicle up I went to a Discount Tire and had them check my wheels and tires. At 12,800 miles one tire was worn to 3/32 tread (have only once done a small burn out) and had two wheels bent in the barrel of them. The dealership claimed they tested all wheels and tires and each was fine. Then allowed me to drive a vehicle that potentially, even by law, is a safety risk. New MRR M228s go on tomorrow once the other 2 tires arrive. lol couldn't send all 4 at once I guess. Switching to the Pilot Super Sports, since the PSS 04s aren't released yet. I'm tacking those costs onto my claim as well.

My wife's 2SS started the "groan" yesterday. We took off from the house and made a couple of normal slow speed turns and we both heard it at the same time, it did it 2-3 times and seemed to stop. Then last night she drove the car again and heard the sound a couple more times.

I've never listened for it as I was not aware of the issue honestly, it definitely just started doing it though. Right at 10k miles. I guess I'll take it to the dealer for a fluid change next week but, looks like there is no real fix for the problem.

I know I checked/changed the diff oil in my C7Z a few weeks ago and it was a full quart low on fluid at 2k miles, I'm wondering if the Camaros are shipped out with low oil levels also?

We'll see what the deal says, I'm sure its the "can not replicate" response coming.

Leave it overnight at the dealer so they can drive it from a cold start and they will replicate the noise no doubt. That's what i did with mine.

They changed the fluid and it didn't fix the issue, dealer cited that there are no other TSBs on it so that's all they can do. I have spoke to two people at GM HQ about it and they said their's nothing they can do... I would love to see a class action lawsuit on this because I am willing to bet some unfortunate folks out there will wear out their rear diff clutches or have other long term issues right after their warranties expire and it'll be too late by then.

From all the people I have talked to the issue surfaces around 10-17k and gets progressively worse from there.

I've had the groan for a few weeks now, and the dealer refused to do anything when I took it in after it first started to do it, saying that "its normal" because its cold and needs to warm up and lube things up or some bull shit like that... I still have the form as proof that I made a proactive effort to have it fixed before it becomes a bigger problem... so for now i'll let it slide until it breaks down or something, its all under warranty. If they don't want to pay for a cheap fluid replacement, then they can pay for a pricey diff replacement if it come down to it. **** it.

I wouldn't let them off the hook that easy, it's not good to wear out the rear diff clutches like that. I'd show them the attached TSB from GM and if they say no I would go to a different dealer or call GM. The fluid drain does fix some cars but it didn't on mine. My only concern with not making them do anything is that it may be under warranty now but that slow wearing down of the clutches may not fail until your warranty is expired and then it's on you to fix it on your own dime.
