It seems to be the people with longer torsos that have the headroom issues. The longer legged tall guys seem to have plenty of room.
So in response to the OP. If you're tall, where are you tall? Legs or torso?
Just adding to the confusion.
And you absolutely should buy the 1LE. In March/April I'm either getting the new model or the ZL1 (waiting to see some more Z's on track before deciding).
Funny you say that. I have recently come to the conclusion that I have a long torso. I'm only 5'10 and have no problems in 5th or 6th gens under normal circumstances, but with a helmet I am forced to lean the seat back as my head is against the roof.

Thank you again for all the cool feedback you guys have given me in this thread I can tell you are a cool crowd. No flame wars, no crazy hijacks where two guys go at each other

Today's the big day. Got the SCAT pack here at work, the afternoon off to go drive and see Becky and see a Silver 1LE SS.

What are your predictions?

Before everyone says "Camaro" ....I LOVE the SCAT LOVE it watched in jealousy as more and more posters over the span of a year put their vlogs on Youtube of their new toys while I waited for my 2013 Charger lease to run its course.

With that said and the fact the ride to work was just the bomb in it yet again I am so torn.

The pros/cons in my mind that I thought about on the way in to work:

Charger pros:
It's loaded, it has all the bells and whistles, sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated cooled seats. It's a no compromise family sedan and at the same time is a sexy beast of a muscle car. It feels SO AMERICA real homage muscle car tuff like I want to just put a flag up and drive it that way. Holds all my hockey gear easily and sticks stay in back seat. That B5 Blue is just the most amazing blue ever, it's like 10 diff colors in the sun. I'm biased. I walk back to that car in a parking lot and it just screams out at you. We were up north at the Sand Dunes north of Traverse City MI and I took a pic of the pk lot way down below and the car was like HERE I AM.

Charger cons:
No Android Auto and the tech in Uconnect is a little dated barely supports any of the phone functions 3 smartphones and still no speaking my txt messages (see our compatibility html bla blab bla seriously), its a four door car really (and in many circles thats like blasphemy) 4 piston Brembos, not nearly the nimble rocket the Camaro is supposed to be. It's only ultimately a light to light car. Skinny 245s on all 4. Yeah most people replace with 275s (and if I dont get the Camaro I'm getting 4 new wheels and going with staggered 275/305 in spring.) AVG like 15-16 MPG combined yeah I drive it hard add to that I HATE the 4 CYL deactivation, dont know if Camaro does that. It makes the car sound funny when it's in that mode.

Camaro pros:
Yeah it's a GM check only reason I'm even considering it, 1969 Camaro was my first muscle car I ever owned in 1986 and I loved that. Handling of a Camaro, the advanced suspension, 6 piston brembos, 285/305 out the gate, it is sexy beast as well, Recaro seats, the manual, I have wanted to get back to a manual for years, the forged wheels on the 1LE are sick like them way better than the WRT Wheels I have on SCAT. Based on videos/research it should be on rails compared to Charger. Exhaust mode selection. Almost forgot the PDR. There seems to be way more Camaro aftermarket than Charger. I was shocked how little there really was for the SCAT. Feedback seems to get slightly better combined MPG. Will never have to drive anyone to lunch as I'll have the excuse of how the back seats are!

Camaro cons:
It's a tiny car when I stood next to one in our parking lot here at the Warren Tech Center it led to this post as a whole... would I fit?! I will want to see it next to my SCAT and seriously compare them. Is my hockey bag going to fit in the trunk without seats folding forward, dont want that stink in the car! May need to get a carry bag instead of my wheel bag. Taking both kids anywhere will be a fight over who sits in the back every time! Probably not as fun at drag strip as the SCAT.

Do you think I'll drive away in my Charger or Camaro!?

So I will either post a pic here later of the new car or the Charger!

I think the hockey bag might be your biggest issue. The trunk opening on the Camaro is very narrow. I know others have suggested this, but have you even considered a 2SS?

Yes sir, not out of the question. I will look at more than just the one Camaro.

Thx for feedback.

Well, you could do like me on tough decisions like these. Keep the Scat AND get the Camaro. Can't take it with you I always say. Variety is a good thing.

They're completely different cars and you're gonna find things you really like about both.

You can live in your car but can't drive your house LOL

Man are you smart! I don't need my family either! HA Why even stop there since this has become so easy I could just get a ZL1 and a Charger Hellcat!

You made me LOL Speedy!

LOL, you laugh but we're a car family. My wife is A OK with all my insanity around hot rodding. We tell everyone we can't afford kids as we have hungry gas tanks to feed. She's a good sport and even does cameos in a lot of my youtube vids. For some reason those always tend to get more views

Mine is getting on board too finally lol. Shes on her second Charger R/T and when I tried talking her into an Audi S4 or BMW 335i she said she didnt want a wimpy european car without a v8 almost had her in a scat pack but she didn't want to spend the extra coin (i so badly wanted her in the scat) and it was her car so I let her get what she wanted. Realistically it wouldve been overkill lol.

OP - Saw the silver one last night in the service bay when I visited the dealer, looks amazing! I think if you drive one there is an excellent chance you will leave with it. Make sure you go to drive mode and set the exhaust to TRACK, trust me. As mentioned above, the hockey bag will definitely be the biggest issue IMO. The opening isn't very big so getting it inside the car could be an issue. Gpod luck! Let us local guys know if you pick it up, we'll have to get all the local 1LEs together when M1 Concourse starts doing cars n coffee again

YEP! Sat in that 1LE. I would have to buy a carry bag, the wheel bag I have will never fit in the opening. Sticks will need to be put in passenger seat I guess not perfect but w/e. Probably buy a sticks holder bag to save the car.

So here's the rub. Not the way I predicted the end to this day!

I went there Becky is awesome. Spent a lot of time with me going over all the features of the car. I have to say "hats off" to Becky and Joe over there at Rodgers Chevy. I never had anyone spend that much time with me DURING the sales process showing me a vehicle and everything about it inside and out like Becky did. Usually a sales person waits until you sign all the paper work to go over all that stuff. Was very impressed!

So the big problem leaving with that 1LE was the weather didn't agree with a test drive so I never got to take her out on the road.

I decided that I'm going to be patient sell the SCAT and put that money plus + ~$15K towards a ZL1.

Now the tough part comes where I have to wait until late this year to hopefully get one.

Things may change during that time frame where I still end up getting a 1LE trim but I'm pretty hellbent on getting the ZL1.

No there were not any allocations left but I am fine with putting in an order and getting in line for perhaps a 2018 ZL1 later in the year.

@Speedy that is awesome! I think my wife is pretty understanding though I'm getting a ZL1 woot. heheh

Man that's a lot of waiting. Patience is a good thing but life's also real short.

I had a 2016 Camaro, had to get rid of it, long story short, I'm going to get a 1LE. I'm a goalie and my hockey bag fit just fine, along with my leg pads. I had to fold the rear seats down but only because my sticks wouldn't fit length wise. Don't get me wrong, its a tight squeeze but I'm sure you know how big goalie bags are and I could get that damn thing in there
