I don't want to add to any speculation but these cars do not need a catch can (except on track). The amount of oil that makes through the breather is not going to adversely affect them.

Pretty sure my paperwork said something somewhere regarding that the modification of your engine immediately voids the warranty. Neither you nor GM have a clue what the previous owner did during those 6k miles. I'm sure GM wants to keep a customer but they know that they can't throw a ton of money away every time someone potentially risks the well being of their car (especially if they outline that in the warranty to cover such incidents)

That's exactly what GM told the person in camaro5 thread for warranty denial, doesn't matter if engine mod caused the failure or not.

GM can say anything they want but it would be illegal under the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act. The law guarantees that GM has the burden of proving your modification caused the failure. The problem is that GM corporate attorneys will wear you down and leave you broke before they will give in.

I spoke with my service adviser this am and he said that they have decided to warranty the repairs, they are unsure what they are at this point, but won't be any cost to me. They have since authorized a rental vehicle for me at no charge as well. I have legally recorded the conversations and have them on file in case they "change their mind" later. I will talk to them more when I go in to pick up the car. My concern is that it won't start intermittenly. That seems like something other than rod knock. And to be clear, the other shop didn't hear any knock.

A catch can and/or a CAI can not possibly have caused the problem. One of their techs must have educated them. |
