Ok next question is where to go for an attorney. Havent found any that handle this in my area. I could file a complaint with Federal Trade Commission

Been up all night worrying and praying for the best. Definitely have no desire to do any mod remotely connected to powertrain anymore. At least through the term of the warranty. This could mark the end as i dont have the $12-15k to repair...

Lemon law can't help you because you bought it used, But maybe consumer protection attorneys can.

Take it to a good independent shop you or your friends trust. This sounds like bs. If it is a serious problem then back to a dealer for warranty. they have to prove the mods caused the damage. Heck I think even GM sells a CAI.

Might need to get a lawyer if this goes south.
Actually...I do believe that the only case they'll need to prove anything is if the customer takes the issue to court. Even then, I think it's the customer's burden to prove their modifications did not cause the damage.

It's their warranty, and they reserve the right to deny coverage as stated in their disclaimers and exclusions.

But hopefully it won't come to that...

There is some good info in there. Interesting read.

Yet...also a LOT of misleading assumptions...

Depending on how this turns out, a lot of folks may be returning their car to stock.

The problem with this world is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be penalties for stupidity,
but why don't we just take the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself.

There was a long thread over on Camaro5.com about a person that lost oil pressure, shut it down immediately, dealer tore it apart, sent photos to GM for warranty approval and GM denied the warranty due to the fact he had a catch can installed, even though there was a known (by GM) issue with oil pump failures.

It was a very long thread, and I'm not sure if it ever got resolved to the customer satisfaction. IIRC, after GM denied the claim, the dealer ended up returning the engine still in pieces after the tear-down.

I have heard about that, and also don't know the outcome. IMHO just because they did it to someone in the past, doesn't make it right or legal. I intend to see this through. IF an investigation or lawsuit begins, I am sure I will be subject to a gag order until the proceedings are complete.

Catch can is a grey area with warranty claims. If you have it, just take it off.

Here's a good read about one issue with them. See post #28
