They simply need sticky rubber. My buddy ran a 6.80 @ 103.38 last night with his HC. Stickies. I wouldn't call the HC one dimensional because you can drive it anywhere. My Chevelle would be considered "one dimensional because nobody in their right mind would want to buy the gas for it.
Modern factory offerings are becoming a viable alternative. I'm very anxious to see some ZL1's on the drag strip. I hope they over impress.

I wasn't really calling it one dimensional. It is compared to a ZL1, but I came a hair from pulling the trigger on a Charger Hellcat, but by the time I was getting to a point of being able to afford one, I decided to wait to see what the new ZL1 would offer. I'm glad I did. No disrespect to a Hellcat, just prefer the sharper handling of the ZL1. Hopefully the ZL1 will perform as good as, or preferably better than advertised. Funny statement about your Chevelle. One dimensional or not, I still love the Chevelles!

I've not seen enough of it to say for sure that I like it, but I think it will be a mean looking ride. I would've preferred widened sheet metal as opposed to the flares though.

I agree with you. I'm hearing that Dodge was a little upset at the 650HP ZL1 and so called 800hp Ford GT500 and with them knowing they were gonna lose the 707hp King HP title they had little time and $/resources to spend on R&D for this 18 Challenger Demon. So bolt on a la 4 X 4 fender flares , wider sticky tires , and a beefed up HP output and they can claim again they are back on top ..

I'm not sure, but some Mopar guys claim that the original Hellcat was coming out as a 800+HP but they couldn't pas EPA emissions so it got "detuned". How they are getting around or improving their EPA rating this time is unknown but apparently the motor already has it in her to do the 800+...

Time will tell as we will all know at New York Auto Show in April...

Hopefully by then my ZL1 is built ! Yeah !

I'm kinda pissed at Chevy/GM for IMO cheaping out and sharing the LT4 with all their performance cars. I mean it's kind of obvious what they're trying to do, not bashing the LT4 or LT1 but a little more exclusivity, while costing more, would be nice. The ZL1 could have used 700 HP or more, but of course GM couldn't have it outshine their Z06. But it seems kind of stupid that the top of the line Camaro (ZL1) is still slower and downgraded from the mid-range Vette. THAT's ass backwards in my opinion. The 5th Gen ALREADY had to live through the shame of standing pretty much no chance against a Hellcat or a 662HP GT500. Even though the Camaro is more efficient per hp than those cars, coming very close for only 580 in the 5th, it still would be nice if we could build a car that would actually "blow them away" instead of just mildly losing for 2 generations in a row now. This is why I'm still scared of getting into the Camaro because we're the slowest in muscle cars as of right now. Hell, Chevy didn't even beat GT500 LAST gen of HP at 662 vs 650, so we're definitely screwed when this GT500 and or Hellcat/Demon comes out. As I was saying, this is why I'm scared to get into the muscle car world with GM and just go with Vettes because while Hellcat fangirls will quickly point out that the Vette shouldn't be compared to the Hellcat/Camaro/Mustang world, at least the Vettes are pretty much always faster.

Sure would be damn nice if we could win the stock race for sure. Not only that, but the Hellcat makes way more than 707 BHP, everyone knows that, they make closer to 740 according to Mopar techs. With bolt ons, I've seen them run mid-low 9s! Bolt ons! 800 WHP and their auto trans is all it takes, you're talking exhaust, intake, pulley, tune, and tires and you're in the 9s.

I have to agree with this for the most part.
I agree it sucks Camaro is just a bit slower.. The argument some might use of oh well the z28 is coming.. Yes but the HC has creature comforts etc its not a strip down model. We do need a faster Camaro imo as well.

I almost got a HC as well but they wanted 5k over msrp and this late in the game I think that's completely stupid. Also I was pretty dead set on a convertible. After driving the SS vert I was in love but I wouldn't mind a HC killer option with vert, when I got mine.
