Believe it or not, in their crate engine spec/instructions for the LT1, Chevy recommends 2 oil changes in the first ~600 miles. Yet the vehicle owner's manual says nothing about doing an early oil change. I did my first one at about 700 miles. The only thing it will hurt is your wallet.

I changed mine at 1500 miles. I think letting the engine break in on the same oil is a good idea. Completely non substantiated, just my own logic.

On the dry slump system on Vette they say 500miles. On others they don't. One thing they do on the Vette is the tach shows redline at 4500 rpm's till 500 miles than it switches to 6500 rpm's
