I've been data logging the Challenger for my tuner and have put the 555Rs to the test in 30 degree weather several times. Corner like a normal tire as well.

I make it a point not to drive either car in the rain, but have been caught in the Challenger coming home from ChallengerFest a time or two. No issues with the 555R and they even offer a non "R" version to run up front that has the same tread pattern so they match. Would be a fantastic tire for this solution.

Bottom line, modern tire tech has allowed DRs to come a LONG way in the past few years so much so that tread wear is about the only down side, but looks like the "summer only" GY Eagle F1s don't last very long either. I'm at 5,000 miles or a little over on my 555R DRs on the Challenger with LOTS of WOT pounding and have 25% or so tread left. I've read folks get 8,000 - 10,000 miles from the GY Eagle F1s.
There's a big difference in a DR and a sicky summer only tire like the GYs or Pilot Sports, etc... The soft sidewall is the biggest safety concern next to the ability to actually deal with standing water. Handling a wet surface is one thing but displacing a standing puddle with a couple of thin grooves is another entirely. If it wasn't so then we would have seen them on cars like the Hellcat to begin with.

Your 555Rs are also a compromise, not quite as sticky as other DRs but much better at dealing with water due to their tread. There is no tire that is perfect granted, but too many safety issues to sell a DR on factory car. Don't forget we live in an age where everyone has to have ABS, STM, TCS, and before too long crash avoidance. Had we had DRs in the 60's and 70's....someone would have sold them with it.

LOL. Hellcats have traction problems everywhere at all speeds including at the drags. Easy picking sometimes. But only sometimes.

To be exact, I never said the car in question would have 700hp. In fact I never said a number. I just said it would have AWD and would probably have comparable 0-60 times to 17' zl1. Still sticking by that comment.

They already run comparable 0-60s and if it is drag focused it will definitely not be AWD. AWD gives you a better launch out of the hole but the extra weight would mean it would be slower in the 1/4 if they were at the same power levels. So there's no way it will have less HP and AWD and again I submit to you, how many AWD setups that handle 700+HP from the factory do you know of?

Pretty cool that dodge is upping the ante again with the dodge demon. Of course it will be street legal and will not be AWD. I'm betting around 760 or 770hp. I know dodge left some on the table for this particular model when they came out with the hellcat in 2015.

I've heard the ADR will be a package for the wider tires and such. Can't wait to find out in April.

I am just guessing here, but I am guessing that they are going to try a new AWD system...I dunno. Who really knows?? It is fun to imagine though. I would love to see the SRT8 with AWD.Around 485-500HP

Apparently the latest word from ResumeSpeed on the Hellcat forums (he's a very reliable Dodge insider) is that the Demon will NOT be AWD. It's apparently to be lighter than the standard hellcat by some 150lbs (which would put it at 4,250 lbs), with around 780-800 HP, 325's out back and 305's out front.

The fender flares will not be bolted on like the Challenger GT concept, they'll be stamped. Aggressive launch modes, including one specifically designed for drag racing will be included.

In pre-production testing the car went into the 9's on test rubber, the target for the production car is mid 10's "comfortably".

Dodge wins hands down in the advertising department. Chevrolet, and Ford should take notes.
