Thanks for that Jess. That helps out a lot.

Thank you Girly for that info. Are these Camaros serviced with the synthetic oil on the assembly line? Seems like maybe they weren't getting the friction modifier added. For what it's worth, my dealership has been good on warranty work.
By the way, that's a kick ass SS you've built. Very nice! Got any track vid's to share?

The modifier should NOT be added if the proper fluid part number is used.

Thank you I have lots of videos (and other crap) on my ig: Jessssiko

So the fix is to just replace the fluid? Mine has had the noise for a while and my dealer want to replace the strut mounts. Told them no since I knew that wasnt the issue and more likely busy work to keep my from pestering them and get some warranty money. Now I'm worried it could really have messed things up by now. The sound is much louder then when it started.

The possible solution is the friction modifier/fluid change. That is the starting point. Did you road test with them? Leave the car overnight so they can hear it first hand?
These are things that help us fix cars right... the first time

It only took them 3-4 hours to change it out. No more noise! This is a warranty repair. On mine, they said the clutch packs had come apart (24,000 miles). Most dealership mechanics are familiar with the problem.

Doesn't your v6 have an open differential? you shouldn't have this problem

Isn't this the purpose of the manufacturer road testing these cars for a year in all climates to help identify things like this. I'm $48,600 into this awesome car but come on GM help us out here on the basics please.

I just noticed someone added a Camaro6 poll to collect data about this issue. It is located here:

When the car is low miles and the noise isn't too bad, they usually do a drain and refill with fresh oil and the figure 8's both lubricate the clutch packs and allow the mechanic to test each clutch pack for noise (when the oil is cool). This seems to be a lubrication problem more then anything else.

Mine is in the shop for the 3rd time for this. (Not this alone, but another issue, and I have brought this up as well.) All the tech will say is, "that noise in the rear is a normal noise for that vehicle. " It was bad enough 2 weeks ago that the whole car was shaking while turning.

Hi guys,

My car also suffers from the grinding noise when turning at low speeds in cold weather.
I imported my 2016 to the UK at the end of last year, and Chevrolet no longer have dealers/garages here. There are a couple of authorised repair/mechanics where I'm based, but I wanted to check a couple of things with y'all;

What is the correct fluid for rear diff. I want to make sure they use the correct one.
What did the flush involve? Did they use any special fluids?

Thanks,
Mike

Mine had the same issue with the diff groaning during turns when the car was cold. The dealer swapped out the fluid and now it doesn't groan, so far.
