This thread has some "real world" weights: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=431729 Just looking around at other cars, the value of 22 would be on the low side even for a small piece of glass with associated mechanism. This thread has some discussions on handling using the value of 40 for the sunroof weight: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=446243 Last edited by ctrlz; 01-10-2017 at 08:46 AM. |

Whatever the weight, it's more weight in the worst possible area. And impacts headroom with a helmet.
For those 2 reasons, I forewent getting one. |

I'm 6'2" and I can't sit comfortably while wearing a helmet (with a sunroof). I have to lean to the side a bit which makes it more difficult to shift. I haven't tried wearing a helmet in a car without a sunroof yet.

I live in FL and thought about a sunroof but ultimately decided against it because of added weight and that it changes the roof line. I thought the car just looked better without sunroof. I've had multiple cars with sun roofs here in FL, its def a nice feature, but not enough for me to overcome the above reasons.

Well, the fact is that I will probably use it on rare occasions.
Mostly though the sunshade will be away and getting the light into the cabin for the kids. But then again it is a hefty price for just adding some extra light I have opend it once one my F11 BMW with panoramic window, but the sunshade is almost always open. Sweden a lot of sunshine..... not really |

This all depends where you live and what you use the car for.. I'm sure the OCD, track types, super enthusiasts hate the roof. I love it ....pretty much use it every day ....because my climate environment allows it.

For me, personally no:
- I'm not in a 12 month warm climate area - It's not my daily car - Possible leaks in the future (rubber does crack, if it's a long term car, as mentioned) - Decreased headroom - It slides "up and over" (don't like that), and not inside the roof panel - Cost - Also that "reverse mohawk" roofline!

Agreed with GlenE. No dedicated track guy would buy a car with a sunroof. With that said, this is my DD. I have another car for the track. I just use the helmet as an example of the amount of headroom available. I'm 6'2 and fit comfortably in the car. I love having the sunroof, even if it's just to let some light in or see the stars at night. Plus, I think the car looks better with the sunroof popped up a little, plus it helps keep the car cooler in the summer while it's parked at work.

I decided not to get the sunroof- extra headroom. Also i find I dont use them. Had one on my Avalanche- had the vehicle 10 years rarely opened it.

Sounds like you should test drive one and see if it is worth it for the extra light. You may end up missing it because the side and rear windows are small relative to the size of the cabin.

No cars available to testdrive
Missed one, they are very rare in Sweden So if I go ahead buying one it is going to be blindfolded.. Stupid, probably but once in a lifetime - yes! |

Odd - I like a dark interior on a car. In fact, it was a main reason that I liked the Camaro versus the Mustang or Challenger. I guess it goes hand-in-hand with my preference to turn all the interior lights down as low as they go at night.

I opted for a non sunroof car as the sunroof ate an inch or so of headroom.
I felt the non SR roof looked FAR nice. Waste of $900+ to add forty pounds to the roof, with a potentially leaky HOLE. |
