I was thinking about a McLaren P1 but didn't want a hybrid. So I went with the 2SS convertible,
. . . Just kidding. Only looked at the Camaro.

I considered a 2016 Z06 but my wife said hell no, and I think mainly because she thinks it would attract too many girls and it had just two seats. At least I can put my three little boys in my car right now as it stands. I don't ever really...but I can.....So go figure on that. She said I could upgrade the camaro and supercharge it and wrap it whatever etc etc...blah blah.
Then on top of that I got her prego right after that so now I'm going to have another little boy so I won't be able to fit all my little boys in my camaro ( HAHA) AND we traded in her high country for a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. So I got a 2016 camaro ss and she got a minivan.... I'm starting to think I owe her one...

I was driving a 2015 Audi S4 and had been the long-term owner of a Subaru WRX before this Camaro.
I cross-shopped against the following: 1. Ford Mustang GT + Track Pack - ultimately way too slow versus the Camaro in pretty much all contests of speed and the interior isn't far superior to make up that gap. 2. Dodge Challenger SRT8 or whatever is comparable - not serious comparison, these cars are heavy and big. 3. BMW M235i - pretty cool but BMW prices are ridiculous for what you get...car felt a little too soft for me and the adjust-ability couldn't hold up against how I can adjust my 2SS to suit my needs. 4. Cadillac ATS-V - bad infotainment, price and lack of V8. 5. Subaru STI - sentimental reasons and AWD is a plus for my neck of the woods...motor is super-old and never was all that awesome even back in 2004. 6. Lexus RC or IS 350 - both too heavy but obviously would be very reliable.

If I had room in my garage I would do somewhat the same. I loved my Audi for daily driving but it was just too nose-heavy for me to be happy on track. The Porsche and Camaro may be redundant but they are very much different driving experiences and fun in their own ways.

C5Z06
C6GS C6Z06 Mustang GT w/ performance pack+power pack 3 2016 Camaro SS w/ A8. I was literally enroute, check in hand for a C5Z. The guys boss sold the car the day prior in spite of him putting it aside for me. I got a phone call 30 mins into my drive to their dealership. So, I began to feverishly work out another deal. In the end, I settled on a CPO 2016 Camaro 2SS A8 w/ NPP+MRC. I'm reasonably content.

Sorry for long post, but it requires a bit of explanation...
We looked at: Jag F type V8 Corvette Porsche 911 Boxster We had a Nissan 350 convertible. We loved it, wanted another convertible, but wanted something easier to live with - something I could autocross and track plus take away for the weekend. Jag was awesome, but expensive, and the trunk make it totally impossible to live with. Vette nice, but we felt would be hard to live with. Porsche was great but expensive, and the operating costs (tires, oil changes, etc) made it way way too expensive to really use it the way we wanted. But the 911 got us thinking of the merits of a backseat on a convertible. On the drive home we stopped to look at the Camaro. We were both blown away, loved the interior, the sound, the drive. Did some research, realized this wasn't just a muscle car anymore, went back and drove it again and we were both blown away at the drive and the value. Really nothing else that has back seat that performs like this car and looks as good and is "reasonable money". We went with 2ss with magnetic ride, performance exhaust, etc. Car has been absolutely awesome, livable day to day, great for weekend get aways, reasonable to operate, etc. |

My list included the following over the course of 6 months of shopping, optioning, debating, wheeling and finally closing a deal.
1. '17 Audi S3 (fully loaded) 2. '16 Scat Pack Challenger / Charger 3. '17 BMW M3 4. '17 BMW 340i w/ xDrive 5. '16 or '17 Chevy Camaro 1SS The last week or two of decision making was jammed up between the Camaro and the Challenger. Chevy dealer came through with a deal Dodge wouldn't even try to beat. |

I have delayed my purchase so am still undecided. I have shopped the following (in no order)
2SS Camaro Corvette Stingray 2LT Cadillac ATS-V coupe Cadillac ATS coupe 3.6 top tier (non V) Lexus RC350 F Sport Challenger SRT Jaguar F Type BMW M4 Mercedes AMG C43 Audi TT I am currently driving a Mercedes E350 which I love. Want something sporty. At this point, everything is pretty much eliminated except Camaro 2SS, Corvette and Cadillac ATS-V in third place. It is really between the Stingray and Camaro to be honest. The car will be a daily driver (very short commute, about 10k miles per year tops). 1 kid who will be driving (the Mercedes) by the time I buy the car, so 2 seater is no problem. It all depends on whether or not I want the corvette as a DD. The Camaro seems a bit more practical, but I love the looks of the Corvette. Rented one for a weekend last fall and it works. Love the Camaro too. Can't lose either way. |
