Daily Driver?
Considering a ZL1 6-speed but don't plan to ever take it to the track. Is this too much car for a daily driver?

The m6 ZL1 can be very tame when you need it to be.
The biggest drawbacks as a daily driver are the manual transmission in heavy, bumper to bumper traffic and the poor gas mileage.

I've got 428 miles on my ZL1. According to the OnStar app, I'm averaging 14 mpg. This is about what I averaged on my m6 5th gen ZL1.

I have a short commute and had to buy snow tires for the winters here in Michigan, but have used my 2012 ZL1 as a daily driver for the last 5 years. It has fantastic manners in "tour" mode and the snow tires, traction control and weight make it more than acceptable in the snow (in anything less than a few inches). I love driving this car today as much as I did the day I bought it.

Yes, you can daily drive it easily. Do it.

I daily drive my M6 and have no complaints. My lifetime MPG according to Onstar is 15. I run Continental Extreme Contact DWS and have no problems in the snow.

Then you'll get fired for leaving work early all the time just to go drive it more. Lol. I'll be daily driving mine.

The car is not un-drivable, high maintenance, or fragile, etc...It's just very very high performance. You will likely never use it's full potential on the street....in fact, you might not ever use even half of what it can do. But it's loaded with equipment on the inside, has great looks on the outside, and gives you the option of a comfortable ride and quiet exhaust if you so choose. It was engineered to excel at the track, at the strip, and on the street. |

Don't modify the car. GM knows that most of them will never see a track.
On my 2010 SS, I did heads/cam/exhaust, Hotchkiss suspension, and went from 20" to 19" wheels and tires. The car was great on the track, but around town, the 305 front tires made the car wiggle down the road, and being 2.5" lower than stock, various parts of the car would rub over curbs/driveways/speedbumps. The manual vs. auto transmission is something else. I ride motorcycles and don't mind shifting, but I did order my ZL1 with the automatic.

Depends if you work in a rural area it is very doable, but if you live in a city you are ****ed up.
