DIY Phone mount
Here is my creation for mounting a phone above the display screen. Grabbed a small piece of sheet metal from Home Depot and used the rugged case mount from Proclip. Still deciding on how to finish the sheet metal (Paint/Plastidip) and the edges. Phone is very secure with the current width so I might try a piece that is not so wide see if it stays.

Sort of off topic but is that a regular iPhone or a Plus? I can't get my home screen to go in landscape mode like yours.

carplay or android auto make needing to see your phone moot.
What I think they should have done was make the arm rest lid two separate pieces. The long portion by the driver would open towards the passenger allowing easy access to the phone storage slot (which would exist because putting your phone in that rear area behind the arm rest is stupid so everyone is using the cupholders) and connecting the usb cable without having it visible when the lid is closed. The second portion would open towards the rear like it currently does. |

I'm a part of the Waze crowd so seeing the phone is one of the reasons for the mount. |

Hey, I know this thread is pretty old, but are you still using that phone mount? After searching for a reasonable place to put my phone, mounting on top of the display makes sense. Would love a DIY post, or I'd pay you to make me one ;-)
