2017 GM Card bonus earnings

I received this year's GM Card offer in the mail today and they are not doing the $2000/$3000 top off again this year.

My offer is just $750 plus my existing points.

Did anyone do any better? I do miss the days of $50 in points returning $2000 in stackable incentives.

I received a different offer that allows me to use more points I already had towards a new vehicle.

For instance I can now use up to 5k on a corvette or up to 3k on a new camaro.

I already had 3800 in points so that's why mine may be different.

My only issue is I leased a Jeep a few months back.

I received that offer, too. You should be getting another offer with additional points but they skipped me last year so I can't be sure.

At 3800 you'd think you'd be eligible for something.

I got the $750 bonus also BUT the most we can use is up to the redemption limit plus the 750 bonus. So in the case of a Camaro that would be a max of 1500 plus 750 for a total o $2250. At least that is how I read the rules on this one.

You're going by the sentence that says:

GM Card Bonus Earnings can be used above applicable GM Card program limits.

I don't recall if the other offer was via email or mail that increased the limits but it didn't apply to me since I'm under 500 points.

No that is not the sentence I was going by. Read at the start and it states that redemption limits apply, but not to the bonus earnings part.

I called GM Card redemptions and got clarification.

If a person has 3800 points and wants a 2016 Spark EV which, for example, has a redemption allowance of $500 they use 500 of their points (leaving 3300) and the $750 bonus points for a total of $1250.

Or...

If a person has 50 points and wants a 2016 Spark EV which, for example, has a redemption allowance of $500 they use 50 of their points (leaving 0) and the $750 bonus points for a total of $800.

Funny, that's how I always thought it worked, too.

So...what was the question?

Whatever the case, this isn't as appealing an offer as it once was. I've only been using the GM Card to trigger the top off offer which is no more so I'll probably wind it down.

I agree that the 750 is on the low side of most of the prior bonus programs. I have had my card since it started in 1991 and would not wind it down for anything. Free money is free !

I have the GM Buy Power card and I just got a flyer for $1500 bonus earnings if I spend $750 between now and Feb 28th. It says I can then combine the bonus earnings with all of my regular earnings. With the Buy Power Card there is no redemption limit.

I am into the third year of having the GM BuyPower card and have never gotten any type of top-off offer.

I always thought that was for the older cards...

Now that I've redeemed my $, I'm debating just switching to a different card, but would probably keep it if I knew I would get a top-off offer sometime a few years down the road.

I got the same offer in the mail -- an extra $750 if I spend $250, $1,000 if I spend $500 or $1,500 if I spend $750 by Feb. 28. HOWEVER, when I log into my earnings page online, all the bonus amounts are doubled -- up to a $3,000 bonus if I spend $750.

I just checked and when I log in and click on Learn More it still say $1500 bonus for me, not $3000.
