Should I install the exhaust then intake and then get the tune? Or does it not matter when or which I do it first

My dealer quoted $120 for install/flash. Advisor stated they wouldn't be able to warranty the part if not purchased from their dealership.

Who cares if they won't warranty the part. It's your drive train warranty you want to keep intact.

I was able to get them down to $425 on the intake here. Its only a few dollars more than you can find it online. See if they will work with you on pricing. They have at least 15% off retail to offer if not %25.

True; however, my only concern is with a couple of members throwing codes after installing this intake, should that occur, I'd like the dealer to take care of it under warranty.

Ah, nice! I'll have to contact my dealer to see whether they'll budge on the price.

Am i the only one perplexed that there are still no numbers even from GM on what this intake is suppose to produce? It seems like they'd sell a lot more that way.

The AFE is what 15HP under questionable conditions? I am not sure there are major gains to be had from a filter/intake replacement. Its more about the noise and the better filter right? I too would like to see results but being in this for 30 years, I always question what is published. Its common to see a 10HP gain/loss in Dyno runs at this HP. Fuel, temps and humidity have a lot to do with the results. Who says they are not propaganda in the end?

I, too, wonder about the potential gain from this intake; not knowing is the only reason I haven't bought it yet, despite my desire to.

I am having this installed next Wednesday so I am trying to get a local shop to do a before and after run. They want $200 bucks for the Dyno runs (two runs on different days). I dont have any options as they are the only place within 60 miles with a Dyno. I am trying to work this out with my schedule as we all want to see the real difference.

I do expect a fractional gain. Think about this: Dont you think the CAI and factory flash would result in better gains than just the CAI? Hell, you could Dyno any car and just remove the intake and expect the same or less from the AFE right?

Yeah, intake with tune and the difference from stock is what I wanna see.

I would not assume anything. The flash may just be to suppress a CEL for a slight lean condition under certain situations, like below zero temps. You don't know.

As for the CAI, every manufacturer does everything they can to send their cars out the door with the best gas mileage and performance possible. I would expect the GM or any other CAI to be louder, but whether it actually translates into power? Probably not noticeable.

Here is a good example. When the 2012 Boss 302 came out, people said the filter and intake were junk, the intake air was too hot, etc. etc. Companies came out with new CAIs and people bought them. Funny though, no one saw any performance increases. When the 2013 Boss 302 came out, it had Ford's TrackApp, which shows intake air temp right on the screen. Turns out, the stock intake is completely awesome, and even in massively hot temps under hard use, the intake air is rarely more than 10F higher than outside air temp if the car is moving, and usually it is within a degree or two. So much for the "Cold Air Intake".

Sorry guys but I couldnt work out the details with the Dyno shop. My car is at the dealership now for the install. I guess I will only have the seat of the pants feel to report.

Thats too much. I wanted the filter regardless of HP increase. I like the sound they produce and its easy to clean the filter. That plus my stock air box was off a bit. I had a gap of about 1/2 inch from the air feed into the air box flowing onto that wonderful paper filter. Crappy job from the factory but I knew it wouldnt be there long.
