I drove my 1LE 162 at the Texas Mile, and if my new ZL1 will go 179 in the mile, I'll certainly drive it that fast (although I'd anticipate closer to 175).

If you look at the video of the zl1 at the ring it seems to be maxing at 181. I'm not sure how long the front straight is there but it seems longer than mile. Also the 181 was not starting from a stand still, he exited the last corner and already had the car at 100 ish. I think these cars are very powerful but have so much drag/down force that you won't see them over 165 in the mile. That's just my opinion, I may be way off.

If my 1LE w/headers/cold air/tune made 162 mph (with a slight tail wind). Bone stock was in the high 150's. I'm certainly hoping a stock ZL1 will make more than 165. But you're right... it takes more than 1,000 hp to get to 200... so it's an exponential equation. If I recall correctly, the stock ZR1 vet's make it into the mid 170's, but they have aerodynamics on their side. Headwind and temperature are big factors too.

Can't wait to find out for sure!

We will definitely see soon. I think the down force is going to slow it down. I just don't know how much. Can't wait until I get mine!

That section of the Nordschleife is entirely uphill. As soon as he crests, the speeds starts picking up again, and then he had to brake for the final turns.

Given the increase in power, and the wing-style spoiler, the 5th gen's top speed of 18x, and the fact that there is marginally less frontal area than a 5th gen ZL1...I'd guess that this car's top speed is solidly in the 190s with the A10.

Theorizing here, but if that's true then to actually reach top top speed you'd want the 3.73 gears where 6500RPM is at 198MPH in 9th or 4.10 gears where 194MPH is 6500RPM in 10th. (looking at my chart here).

I am ONLY speaking top top top speed, not talking about how long the straight is or anything else, or if you're exiting a corner with speed, imagine an infinitely long straight for this. Also not taking into account that top gear will obviously be able to go past 6500RPM until the rev limiter kicks in (6600RPM someone said?), which means a little more speed is possible if you have enough power even.

The gear NUMBER itself is irrelevant, it's the gearing of a particular gear that tells us how close we are to redline, and we want to be really close to redline to produce the most power. The regular rearend means we are halfway through 8th gear when we hit top speed, so we're not making max power. Power at a specific RPM = Torque at that RPM * The RPM.

// Stefan

Blast, Where can you get 4.10 gears for a zl1 9.9 rear end?

I mean, you could have just sent him a PM considering this thread has been inactive since 2017...

I though GM official testing of a10 zl1 resulted in 202.3 miles per hour in one direction and 193.3 mph in the other direction for an average of 198 mph.

lt4's little underrated.. may have been slightly over 200mph on a minor down slope couple attempts with stock pumpkin.

The problem with the A10 is SEVENTH GEAR. Its a killer for roll racing. The ZL1 rips 1-6 then hits 7th and its like overdrive towing a trailer. Big drop in RPM then thats when you get pulled on by HCs and boosted coyotes.

7th is a weak gear strength wise as well and is the reason I'll likely never run my current build in the 1/2 mile. It would almost certainly torch even the built transmission. We block out 7th for the 1/4 mile.
