I'm only repeating what I see and hear. Yes people are mean and some are even jealous. Whatever this is a Camaro ZL1 forum.

The Vette forum is over there ....
My former Vette is registered at the national corvette museum, and I am a life time member. You should disassociate with any who make those comments, as its not very representative of the corvette community. That is nothing but childlike snobbery. Grand Sports have a long history and are great cars, on and off the track.

I have owned sveral Vettes including a GS have been a Corvette Forum member for about 13 yrs DRLC5. Are you a forum member? I have never had anyone tell me I am trying to be a poser or say I cant afford the real thing nor have I heard anyone say that. If so I would not hang with those people. The people I hang with are just car guys and really like the Zl1. they may BS with each other but never serious. I am planning on buying a Zl1 in the near future. I think it is a bad ass ride.

I too have been wanting to get the GS, but with the new numbers out on the camaro, it is interesting. I have all winter to think about it. I love the look of both vehicles
The MT review of the ZL1 said that randy did an unofficial lap faster than the GS.

"Corvette club" says it all. Biggest bunch if septuagenarian loafer wearing comb over D bags I've ever seen in every one I have ever checked out. And I've checked out several in my area and they are totally ridiculous and lame doing stupid "dinner cruises" and the like. I hope your is club is different. As for the GS, I really choke any time I hear someone call a stock 12 second car that will run 0-60 in around 3 and half seconds a poseur car. Its typically the poseurs that say shit like that anyway. Just my 2 cents.

Well, to be fair, almost every car brand and make and model has a club and does some sort of cruise. Not sure you are hanging with the right crowd. The Vette owners I know aren't of the old school. Most of us are younger and we appreciate the car for what it is and it's usually our 30th-50th car we've owned so. We don't look at it as some holy grail. At least I don't. The old school grey hairs do for some reason. I grew up thinking the same as you. That the Vette crowd are the biggest douches of all time. Now that I own one, it is my duty to travel America showing others that the new era in Vette ownership is actually quite pleasant. I kid, I kid.

Good post! I wasn't trying to generalize and I know not all vette owners are dickheads- just ones that say stupid shit like other cars are "poseur cars". Give me a ****ing break. Same thing happened when the C6 GS came out and all the widebody Z06 guys got asshurt that their widebody cars weren't so unique. If you've got a cool club with good solid car guys, I'm impressed. Just stating my experience with the vette-specific clubs around here (in central fl). Seems their cars see about 500 miles a year and never see north of 50 mph. Lol.

As for not being able to afford a Z as a typical put down of the GS buyer, I can say this, most anyone that can drop near 70K for a GS can typically get into a Z if they want it with no problem. I specifically chose the GS as I find a car with less power more fun on the street. Shit I can barely get mine out of third most of the time. This is one of the primary reasons that I found the SS to be so much fun is you can really run it through the gears.

On another note, had a chance to do a little comparison this AM. Stopped by two local dealers and saw my first ZL1. Tough call for sure. Love the alcantara interior bits. And the front end is off the hook. Wheels even look good to me in person. Not so much about the blue but the other dealer had a NGM. Looked so hot.

I am an old school grey hair and a car guy, but don't think that way at all. Douches come in all sizes, sexes and ages, so generalizations don't fit any particular demographic, but they are easy to spot once they open their mouths.

It's ridiculous that this superficial hierarchy even exists in the minds of some folks. But I've realized that there's a certain subgroup of people that need to look down on others in order to make themselves feel better about themselves. They'd say those who bought a GS or Zl1 couldn't afford a Z06, when quite frequently affordability isn't the deciding variable for the decision.

Go across the street to the Porsche meetup, and you got a few of those members looking down on vette owners...."What, couldn't afford the 911 turbo?". It never ends and it's been going on forever. Most enthusiasts aren't like this, but they're definitely some snobs out there.

I go to the gym with this cat who drives a mcclaren 650s, amg gt, nissan gtr, audi r8, astin martin vanquish, and a couple of bad azz pickups. But you wouldn't know that given the numerous compliments he gives me on the camaro. Never once a 'I could buy 4 of your zl1's for the price of my mcclaren.' Just an enthusiast chatting with another enthusiast. That's the way it should be imo

Going a little OT here but this reminds me of me and my bike (a 2013 Triumph Thunderbird Storm if anyone cares) - people say that bikers are so condescending and will piss all over any other bike unless it's whatever they're riding. This is so far from the truth - I can come to a red light and a R1/Fat Boy/Indian/Hayabusa/anything rolls up next to me, we give each other the nod, sometimes I get a comment "nice bike!" and we leave peacefully (or WOT..).

Most car guys and bikers are just car guys and bikers, while we have our preferences the mass don't piss on others.

OF COURSE I've heard "Hah, poor man's Harley", and I just laugh at them. To each their own but I still do 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds on my bike even though it weighs 700lbs or so without me on it. My bike isn't even that much cheaper than a Harley.

Sorry for going OT (or was I?).

Well I hope ZL1 faster considering has 190 more HP. Though have to give some credit to GS cause ZL1 was less then a second faster around road coarse.

Both are great cars I think, would love to add either one to my garage.
