Hooker cat back interior drone!?
2017 without NPP... I started off with a Blackheart straight pipe axleback and decided to get the cat back with mufflers and second cat delete. Well, unfortunately, the catback with mufflers is just as bad... what is everybody else doing to have a loud exhaust but keep the interior noise and rattles down? I drive this most days but the interior vibrations and noise is driving me crazy... it definitely brings out every interior rattle I've got... Id like to remove the rear seat but I'm certain that would only make it worse.... any tips or is every loud exhaust going to be this bad? Maybe dynomat the rear of the car?

Add a J-pipe.. While it may not eliminate 100 percent of the drone.. it will eliminate 70-90 percent of it.. which is a huuuuge difference.

There are not many exhausts that can be loud without drone. B&B and Borla corner the market on this. B&B does not make exhaust for the Camaro so Borla is the best reasonable option. I think there is one other company that makes them but they are insanely priced. Aprokiva or something was their name.
Anyhow, if getting a jpipe fabbed up isnt practical for you, then sell the Blackheart rear piece and buy the Borla rear sections. I think they are priced very well for the Non NPP version. |

Corsa also makes a zero drone non-npp catback with their "RSC" technology I heard some people are ecstatic with.

Corsa and Solo are your best choices for drone free exhaust. I'm sure the Solo systems will hit the market soon for these cars. We'll have the Corsa Camaro systems listed shortly on our site. If you have an exhaust that drones now and want to eliminate it look into a set of Jpipes like mentioned earlier. These can be welded in at any muffler shop and they knock out your drone issue without having to go back to stock or pay huge money for something like Corsa.

Adding a j pipe seems easy enough and there should be plenty of room. I'll definitely give it a shot at least. I'm sure others have the same amount but they just live with it?

I did dynomat on my 5th Gen for drone from a full header & exhaust system. It was a waste of time and money. You would be wise to go with the J-pipes.

Below are pictures with the J-Pipes.. Cost me $100. Now I have Super 10's and they are deep and loud. So a lot of drone (especially with an M6) and it even rattled my NPP Bypass valves (I never had the NPP rattle stock) and some interior parts.. I put on 26" J-pipes, eliminated 80-90% of the drone and zero rattles in the cabin and OEM bypass valves. So it was a BIG plus for $100.
No J-pipes.. slight rattle https://vid.me/qmHa With J-pies, zero rattles https://vid.me/gSF8 ![]() I love how Hooker, Flowmaster, SW rumbles and pretty much most of the exhaust brands have drone.. it's just the nature of the beast. Borla and Corsa are known to be drone free but they come at a premium especially with NPP. |

If you want something loud but don't want drone, I'd go with Borla Atak, they are very loud when you stomp on it, and very tame when you are just cruising. I have the S-Type (the middle loud one), and same thing there - no drone. You can start with their axle back, and if you want louder you can add on their mid-pipe or the secondary cat delete package.
I hear Corsa has no drone either, but cannot confirm it for this car since I've never heard one in person, I've had one on a previous car and can confirm that had no drone. I have some sound clips on my IG (see below) if you want to hear how the S-Type sounds with midpipes (still have all my cats). If you want louder, go for the Atak. Absolutely zero drone. If you feel you have too much invested in your set up, I'd try to find a good muffler shop that can custom make you some J pipes like Richard0nee talks about above because you'll lose a lot of money trying to sell your current system used and Borla/Corsa does not come cheap at all, but IMO it's worth the money because it's a quality product. What would yall say is the best way to add the J pipes to this exhaust? Im thinking come out from the bend right before the muffler then run parallel to the muffler or does it actually have to be in the shape of a "J"?
