Now... The supplier of the Dashboard / telematics system is Visteon Corporation. A global supplier of cockpit technologies. In a matter of days, at CES, Visteon is announcing a developer program for their technology platforms. Probably not that different from the "apps" that are provided in the '17 camaro HMI update. Considering their platform approach, insights gained from owners of other vehicles integrated with Visteon technology may be applicable to any customization efforts. ![]() Is this the next Camaro update or a HACKED rendition? The Gen 6 Camaro leverages, CanBus, GMLan, HMI and others to control the lighting, hvac, seats. The dash and mylink system's communicate over the in-car networks. Based on Visteon's docs, it's highly plausible that the dash cluster and the mylink system share a common controller that is capable of OTA updates. Now... While enabling existing code for a front camera is "COOL", personally, I think the everybody is ready for much more. IMO the Camaro, and Car's in general , lack a layer of contextual personalization based on location, historical activity, external and internal environment, etc. With A/I control of the HVAC, heated seats, steering wheel heater, music, lighting, etc. The combinations are endless. Is GM willing to open up their platform for innovation?? Let's hope so. Otherwise..... Last edited by vidkidZ; 12-30-2016 at 06:07 PM. |

This is from the 2017 GM book, Think before you do, wait until the warranty is over!
General Motors does not warranty non-GM parts, calibrations, and/or software modifications. The use of parts, control module calibrations, software modifications, and/or any other alterations not issued through General Motors will void the warranty coverage for those components that are damaged or otherwise affected by the installation of the non-GM part, control module calibration, software modification, and/or other alteration. |

Personally, I'm seriously considering the high-resolution CTS-V cluster. |

So if you tune your car and then your engine blows up, you're gambling your warranty. But the Magnuson Moss Act says the dealer is responsible for proving the modification caused the problem which would impact the warranty on only the specific parts involved. There are likely a thousand Chevy dealers... Not all of them are familiar with the act, nor care about it. Some will take care of you regardless... Some will not work with you no matter what you say. In the end you need to understand that installing a modifcation *may* directly impact the warranty of the parts it affects. Any disputes between you and the dealer regarding the above are 'civil' and not criminal, and would need to be resolved via the BBB, arbitration, or courts if a resolution can not be worked out. Which is a huge PITA, which is usually what dealers stand on to get their way... The knowledge that you won't actually take them to court. |

I have a serious question about hacking:
How do you get into the window control operation to roll them down AND up with the remote? I know you can roll them down, but about a year ago someone posted a video of their windows rolling up with the remote. Unfortunately he would not tell how he did it and was being an annoying jerk about it, sort of a "neeener neeener neeeeeeeeener". Any idea how he did it? |
