Mine have a blemish in the same spot on each one. It corresponds with a rough spot on the edge where it looks like they were cut out of the mold.

I'm going to wait and see SimMans outcome is.
I got a reply from AAC. They said they couldn't guarantee that the next batch from the painter will not have issues. She told me she would QC them and let me know if they are better then what I got. I thanked her but also told her that at this price point I would expect a better product. So IMHO for those that are watching this thread I would hold off until they can send you a perfect product. I'll try to keep you informed on my interaction with them. I guess that this is what might happen when your an early adapter of a new product.

Thats the "gate" where the plastic is injected into the mold cavity. It's a high pressure & heat area due to the nature of molding. It has to be trimmed in most mold designs, especially a low volume product like this. Normal stuff, but the trimming should be pretty flush with the surrounding areas.

The "dimples are called a "sink" mark & these photos are showing really an unacceptable molding condition. They should be trying to dial in the process parameters (temperature, cycle time, shot size). its a bit of trial & error, but it is very common. The no good parts can be reground to use the plastic again unless it's something more exotic (not likely in this case). The molder can do better than this. If not, someone screwed up the tool design, but even that should be fixable (but can be costly to do so).

Standard Cosmetic Specification limits for something like the sink mark for a smooth cosmetic surface (surface A), exterior facing from the Society of the Plastics Industry (AQ-103) is "none allowed" for sink in that area:

So is the spot under the lens that lines up with the gate area an air pocket or something?

Hard to tell from the photo, but when the mold goes through the actual process of injecting the molten plastic resin shot, compressing it through the gate creates a very hot spot. The temperature variation will often cause some noticeable imperfections in that area, especially when molding with a clear resin. But covering it with their "ghost paint" process should "hide' any of that.

Is the photo showing an exterior facing surface? I see the edges clearly where the gate is, but the photo showing a arch shaped discoloration, is that the exterior facing surface or interior?

That's looking at the exterior, like you would see when on the car. I just gother the tinted, not painted.

Everyone should cancel their orders, file disputes with their credit card companies & wait to see what Oracle does to improve the quality. For $400, these things should be perfect like the factory. Like I've mentioned many times before, Oracle is junk & this just further proves my point.

This is the response I got....

Hello,

The ones that we have here, all look the same as the ones you have. My suggestion would be to send them back and have them painted as this would cover any blemishes you may see. MOST customers have them painted, as this gives them the two year warranty. Any unpainted set will not receive a warranty once installed.

Thank you and have a great day,
